    It disables Windows 7's auto alignment of windows, a feature which you can actually turn of manually without using shift window. Its in the control panel, easy of access, change how my mouse works, prevent windows from being automatically arranging... The difference being that Sift Window does it per-application instead of OS wide. To be clear, Shift Window makes changes to how the OS behaves regarding that program, as opposed to how the game behaves. Hate to say it but if anyone did get banned for using it and /really/ wanted to fight it, they would have more legal ground to do so than someone who uses an SLI profile to improve performance.

    Personally, I say just turn off the arrangement feature. It means you can't drag your window to the top of the screen to maximize it, but who cares, when you can still click the little button or double click the window's bar?

    i also have this issue and its the most frustrating thing i cant put the resolution to my monitor rez because the darn border makes it not fit correctly

    And for the record, dev team fail. Once again they move a thread from bug to suggestion or technical support when it is a bug. "Working as intended" is not an excuse for shoddy programming. The fact remains that basic use of a computer - as intended (that is, pressing the windows key or clicking a mouse) - causes your game to crash. Needs a fix, not an excuse.

    Trust me there something out there that allow you to full screen and still alt-tab it said that one person on his free time made it but SE does not even know how to fix it -.- FFXI still don't have it and ffxiv wont for a long long long time.

    Hmm is this while running the game in proper Full Screen mode and not Windowed mode then forced Full Screen? If it is proper Full Screen and still allow access to my desk top then this is something I must have. Does it still crash when pressing the Windows's key while running this if it is in proper full screen mode?

    It real full screen you put your config res to the size of your Monitor and log in and you in full screen then you can alt-tab and you get the little more FPS that you would have got from Full screen. Sadly can't talk any more in the forums just going to get mod edit but really if SE can't do it they should at least allow us to use someone else.

    I want to point out that this thread is about an issue with dual monitors and how the game interacts with them. Alt-tabbing would be a separate issue which granted, does trigger a similar or same error. Its very likely that ANYTHING which would force the game to minimize will trigger this error [Anti-virus programs, system pop ups, updates etc.] In this case, having a dual monitor set up leads to a number of ways which causes the game to crash, be they intentional or accidental.

    Again, I want to point out that this was not a suggestion post. Its a bug report. Granted, I offered some possible suggestions to remedy the bug, but its still a bug report.

    This issue is not just an inconvenience, it's causing a game crashing error (With possible side-effects resulting in data loss, given that any time you try to close the game from the top bar it warns you that abruptly closing the game in this fashion may cause data loss). It results in an error similar to a variety of other triggers. This doesn't seem like a small issue, it seems like a fairly broad issue with some portion of the code, most likely in the system handling the DirectX device. (given the fact that the error says it failed to reacquire it.)

    If need be, I'll be more than happy to re-post this to the bug report section; minus what I thought might be a helpful suggestion for tracking down the issue.

    In this case what they should be doing is attempting to capture the device (which they apparently never do, or aren't doing correctly because so far this is a widely reported error). The try-catch should be for this routine only, not the whole drawing/loading routine.

    Despite not being familiar with the code, I would hope they at least have someone familiar with the DirectX API considering they are developing their own engine (Crystal Tools). If the error is stored as a string, I'm willing to bet you'd just need to do a search for the try-catch throwing this string; more than likely the culprit is hiding within that portion of the code. This would be where you try to reacquire the DirectX device.

    If they got rid of the team developing their in house engine, I would find this cause for alarm. I didn't think they were shuffling the whole team, just some of the top brass.

    The Dev Team hasn't changed it is exactly the same team that made the game for the most part. The only changes were Tanaka going, Yoshi P coming in and they also brought some others in off of other projects to assist the team. So it is the same team they just have some extra people to help them as well now.
