    It's not that easy. The dev team changed and they don't know the code. They can't just try-catch the whole drawing and loading routines :P
    All the guys in their team who are knowledgable about this stuff are currently working on the PS3 version I bet. It's also weird that you can only use standard resolutions even in window-mode. If you could just set the width a few pixels less it would probably solve the issue. Maybe they should forget the fullscreen mode and concentrate on window mode.

    In this case what they should be doing is attempting to capture the device (which they apparently never do, or aren't doing correctly because so far this is a widely reported error). The try-catch should be for this routine only, not the whole drawing/loading routine.

    Despite not being familiar with the code, I would hope they at least have someone familiar with the DirectX API considering they are developing their own engine (Crystal Tools). If the error is stored as a string, I'm willing to bet you'd just need to do a search for the try-catch throwing this string; more than likely the culprit is hiding within that portion of the code. This would be where you try to reacquire the DirectX device.

    If they got rid of the team developing their in house engine, I would find this cause for alarm. I didn't think they were shuffling the whole team, just some of the top brass.
