    1.18 still has auto-attack. It also comes with the fundamental adjustments to the battle system, which takes a LOT of calibration. They can then build on this base, making future patches easier to turn out.

    They'll also likely be expanding the story a little further, as with previous patches. There WILL be quests associated with the dungeons (to unlock them) and possibly some more grand company bits and pieces.

    You can see right away that article is wrong, since Ifrit is confirmed as being added on 1.19, not 1.18

    I've been meaning to say this for a while, but somehow never get to: There's not enough world for Chocobos yet. We already ran out of world-lands to explore, remove the distance feel and Hydaelyn will become boring in a second. I oppose the idea of Chocobos until the map expands at least twofold. But I know that will be just me. :-(

    Airships as a way to save anima, might make sense, but from the landing platforms I've seen around, they don't seem to be designed to go from city to city just yet.

    I just don't want Eorzea to shrink all of a sudden.

    Basically all anyone has to do for something to "be confirmed" for this patch or that is to post it. Even if they're mistaken. Two people read that thread, then they tell two people, etc. I remember reading an interview where Tanaka said the Western players were kind of notorious for rumor-mongering like that. But honestly, it can't be helped, when information is so sporadic and disjointed. We will, by default, try and fill the gaps.

    The last I heard, chocobos were being looked into, but definitely not for 1.18. I believe they're trying to push airships through though, if possible. Rumors away!

    The way I try to reason the horribly horribly slow pace of anything they're doing is the fact that the game is barely finished yet so we shouldn't (?) expect them to update this game as often as other MMOs get updates...

    Then again I personally think that time is of the essence to them with the game bleeding players by the second. If SE was smart they'd hire more people to this project that now seems more like n.yoshida's vanity project rather than a full-blown FF product.
    There are some problems you can't fix by throwing more people at them....

    Like waiting 2 hours for an artist to draw your portrait....
    Adding 2 more artists to speed it up isn't wise or feasible....

    there is a process... a progression to things....
    More people working in more teams would further obscure the vision of the producer...
    You could have a million people on the project... but if all other facets hinge on things like the battle system and overall lag then you just have to wait....

    Say I am on the team making battle animations...
    until the battle system is fleshed out, I wont know the speed or pace of battle... the feel of combat, so I can't possible make animations that fit within the context of a system that isn't finished....
    So I can't even start on animations until the battle system is at least in testing....
    Then... Yoshi P has told my team there will be server and formula tweaks to increase responsiveness and reduce lag....
    So I can start the animations... but have to keep in mind that some of them could be ill timed or glitchy if the timing changes due to server or engine tweaks....
    So no.. You can't have 40 teams working on different aspects at the same time....
    Even with 10 teams, the only way that can work is if Yoshi essentially makes himself a member of each team to keep everyone coordinated.. and even then there are things that can't be done until others are done first....

    If you want a good game... give them time...
    If you want a crappy rushed overhaul that is on par with launch... then whine, cry, troll, and Q.Q about them taking too long

    Honestly the gil issue is troubling me.
    (Not meaning design of the total economic cycle but the gil the players have saved, usage rate)
    In patch 1.19 3country Airship/Chocobo Related/Materia Craft/Recipe improvements should increase ways to utilize the gil.
    But we cannot forecast how the gil will move for the huge amount of gil.
    So in patch 1.19 expanding methods to consume more gil, and watch. We are already working on this.
