We would get already a PvP zone with 2.3Going beyond dueling, would folks like to see arena type battle area's that utilized a mix of NPC/PC's battling? This could use the current duty finder system and pull players from the same data center, but have half of the servers be matched together while the other half could be the opponents.
Thoughts, suggestions?

I think it would be fine if they had an option to toggle on/off if you want to receive requests for dueling. If you have it toggled off then you wouldnt have the option to be asked for a duel.
As far as balancing is concerned they could make it so that once you both accept the duel then your skills and stats would change to dueling skills and stats somewhat like they do in the wolves den. They would obviously have to rework them somewhat like give whm more int or something, it may take some time to balance things fairly but I think it would be do-able. Once the duel was over you would go back to your normal stats and skills.
I think this would make open world more fun, maybe someone would be like the black knight and guard a bridge and not let anyone pass unless they fight. And if you dont want to participate then you can have dueling turned off and simply run by the person just like it is now.

They had something like that in DCUO and I always declined because that's not why I play MMOs. If I want to kill other players, I'd play a game that only did that, like Dust 514 which I do play. Public PvP is a terrible idea, period. You want to get your PvP fix outside of the Wolves' Den, then go play an FPS or something.
I think they to focus on the core PvP system first and move it out of beta testing before we can think about things like this.
I say no, otherwise you'll have the elitist FC's challenging random players and calling them out as pussies for not duelling.
What if there was an option under character configuration where you could turn off all duel requests?
I'm not much of a PVP person honestly, but it would give people something extra to do in the zones and be something extra to see for spectators as well.
