Indeed but, just like offline, people react in a loud way at most of the changes. More loud on the internet cause of the anonymity. In this particular case I'd say that it's cause the average user of a p2p system doesn't like the idea, or the feeling, that he's being mooched for money. Even though it may be an irrational fear and it's something completely optional which might not affect them in the slightest. Paying customer's privilege and all of that.... Or in other words, it's in the human nature to overreact and it's hardly gonna change.

As for glamour-prism-thingies and mastercraft (I'm just gonna call the new recipes like that from now on ^ ^) I'm happy. Whatever they do to make my lv50 DoH more useful and fun is fine by me.
