    Best Meal(s)?

Haven't found a topic for it, so if there is one I missed, I apologize.

Basically, I'm working on several classes and I have trouble telling what meals work best. I'm currently working on culinary, so I can make the stuff pretty easily. But I'd like to know what food/ingredients/meals work best for each class. It could be for what one helps them get the job done or gains the most experience if they're still leveling.

I'm only asking not only to help myself, but figured others might be looking for similar answers, so could use this to help them.

So what I'm looking for as of now though, is Archer, Thaumaturge, Culinarian, Fisherman, and Botanist. The later of the two though I think may require the same kinds of meals, so may or may not count.

To any who respond with answers to my question or general responses for all the classes and such, thank you very much

For Archer, the best food is Crit Rate food (Egg dishes), and at level 50 the most effective one currently is High Quality Deviled Eggs.

I believe for all non-crit based DPS classes, Thaumaturge being one, the best food is supposed to be the Determination food (Mushroom dishes), the most effective at 50 being High Quality Buttons in a Blanket.

For crafting and gathering it just depends on what you are trying to do and what your stats are. You may need craftsmanship or control food in order to reach minimum stat requirements for high level recipes, but generally extra CP food will be the more useful of the three in my experience.

The only food that really matters for Fisher is Perception food if you are trying to mooch specific fish. If you need HQ materials to HQ things you make, then just use perception food.

Also, keep in mind your stats determine which food is the best within a given category. It's a simple matter to find out how much each food will give you, then pick the highest.

Get a calculator and do the math that shows what each food will actually give you with your gear, many times the highest tier food won't give you as much as the tier right below because they are based both on a percentage and a cap. For bard crit is usually the way to go, you need to make sure you have accuracy capped, but bards usually don't have trouble with that. Thaumaturge and black mage is a different thing, it depends on your gear and what build you want, some go for a spell speed, some crit, and some determination, I think that spell speed actually out parses the other two, but it takes T5 and EX primals to gear it, but pretty much any food that ups any of those for a black mage will help until you can figure out your stat steps and whatnot. Any crafting food will depend on what you have leveled to compliment your current craft, your gear and what you are trying to make, but the break down is craftsmanship makes your progress skills more powerful, control makes your quality skills more powerful, and CP gives you more points to use your skills. Also some recipes require minimum craftsmanship or control, so just look at what you are making, and pick which ever food you need. Fishing you don't need much food, if you are having trouble where you loose the fish while you are reeling it in, up your gathering a bit, perception if you are targeting hq. Botany is kind of like crafting, most people that use any use it to break a threshold for gathering or perception to gain access to unspoiled nodes, or a chance to hq unspoiled nodes, after that it is using food to hit over 600GP, but in the end just play with everything, and you will be able to tell what you need to get the job you are doing done.

Sadly, I'm horrible at math, even with a calculator

Funny you revived the thread, as now my information is incorrect. 2.2 boosted the % increases of all the starred foods and they are now all worth using. This means going from Deviled eggs to Apkallu Omelets, and Buttons in a Blanket to Black Truffle Risotto in your case.

Food (and meds) in this game are lame and barely provide any benefit, unlike say FFXI where Sushi was highly measurably better here the benefit is almost undetectable in mostg cases .. and SE have stated they intend it that way. /shakeshead
