We’ll be using this news post with new information on patch 2.2. Screenshots can be found at the bottom of the page when they’re uploaded.

Update 42 7:52 EST – The current main scenario will continue through 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 at least.

Update 41 7:51 EST – As of patch 2.2, NPCs who you’ve completed quests for will recognize you for your accomplishments. This means that the basic interaction chat for an NPC will changed based on if you completed quests for them.

Update 40 7:48 EST – In May we’ll see a live letter going over patch 2.3.

Update 39 7:46 EST – Patch notes will be released today. Some parts of the notes are not ready and will be released at a later time.

Update 38 7:44 EST – The previously announced rank 6 and 7 veteran rewards will now all be available for rank 6. Rank 7 veteran rewards are being reworked and will be released at a later date.

Update 37: 7:34 EST – Hatching event (Easter egg hunt) will begin April 9th 2014.

Update 36: 7:26 EST – New Final Fantasy Theatrythm game will include several tracks from Final Fantasy XIV, including the title theme Answers.

Update 35: 7:22 EST – In 2.2, you will no longer be able to obtain Tomestones of Philosophy. You will be able to turn in Tomestones of Philosophy for Tomestones of Mythology. Items you can get from Tomestones of Philosophy will now drop from dungeons and other content. For example, Darklight gear will be obtained from dungeons. Philosophy crafting items will be available in treasure chests and from grand companies.

Update 34: 7:18 EST – The Ishgard storyline will progress from the 2.2 story, and in patch 2.3 we’ll see direct involvement with Ishgard.

Update 33: 7:17 EST – Edda will make a return in patch 2.3.

Update 32: 7:14 EST – The theme of the first expansion is a 1000 year war.

Update 31: 7:10 EST – No current plans to add in library to read lore.

Update 31: 7:07 EST – Gilgamesh battle isn’t overly hard and should be clearable with 8 players within two tries.

Update 30: 7:05 EST – Hildibrand quests will continue through 2.2 and beyond.

Update 29: 7:03 EST – Hildibrand will not have a voice actor in patch 2.2

Update 28: 7:01 EST – Sahagin Beast tribe area shown X:11 Y:12 in Western La Noscea. Additionally a bonus will be awarded for becoming trusted with all beast tribes.

Update 27: 7:01 EST – 2.3 will introduce Ixal Beast tribe.

Update 26: 6:57 EST – Kobold Beast tribe area shown (X:21 Y:17 in Outer La Noscea)

Update 25: 6:55 EST – A fun 8-bit style Titan fight animation was shown.

Update 24: 6:51 EST – Main Scenario writer Maehiro has joined the discussion.

Update 23: 6:47 EST – Screenshots from the first half of the stream have been added to the end of the post.

Update 22: 6:41 EST – A number of new dances were shown during the break.

Update 21: 6:40 EST – The number of items placeable in a house will not increase in 2.2.

Update 20: 6:33 EST – Tank bonus has been increased 7 fold for roulettes. A new mount has been planned for end game tanks. New Warrior mount is a giant bear and the new Paladin mount is a white lion. Screenshots will be uploaded after the stream.

Update 19: 6:30 EST – Mini-games are in the works, something like FF7, presumably chocobo racing or breeding will be added in 2.3.

Update 18: 6:26 – EST – 24 people can join Crystal Tower together in 2.3, which will also be the next Crystal Tower expansion patch.

Update 17: 6:25 EST – PvP Frontlines screenshots shown. These will be added after the stream. FRONTLINES WILL BE INCLUDED IN 2.3

Update 16: 6:22 EST – PvP will be modified slightly in 2.2: A system will be put in place so that high rank players do not get matched with lower ranked players. Patch 2.25 will increase PvP’s maximum rank to 40.

Update 15: 6:19 EST – The echo buff for Coil turns 1-5 will be increased every two weeks starting two weeks after the patch launch. Phase 1 will reduce monster hp by 10%, and will adjust Clockwork Knight’s reflection. Phase 2 will reduce monster HP by 15% and increase cure potency by 15% and phase 3 will reduce monster HP by 30% and increase cure potency by 30%.

Update 14: 6:17 EST – Binding Coil of Bahamut will be added to duty finder, will have its weekly restriction removed and High Voltage will be adjusted.

Update 13: 6:16 EST – Extreme Mode Primals and Ultima’s Bane will also receive the Echo Buff, but it will increase by 5% each time to a maximum of 25%.

Update 12: 6:13 EST – Echo buff update. Echo buff will be applied to Ifrit HM, Garuda HM, Titan HM, Thornmarch HM, Chimera and Hydra. The buff will increase by 10% each time it is applied and stacks 5 times up to 50%. The buff begins 3 minutes into the fight if people die.

Update 11: 6:12 EST – Player Housing – no more information yet.

Update 10: 6:10 EST – Vial of Phantasia will be sold soon, but we are unaware of when exactly.

Update 9: 6:08 – ilevel 90 to 100 will be fill in gear to bring you up to speed

Update 8: 6:07 – Extreme Mode Leviathan and Extreme Mode Moggle Mog will be clearable in ilevel 90. Leviathan gear can be used in someway or another for things.

Update 7 – 6:06 – Binding Coil of Bahamut turns 6-9 equipment will have a higher ilevel than Gerolt’s gear (tomestones of soldiery purchaseable gear).

Update 6 – 6:04 EST – New crafter gear will be introduced. New crafting gear will be difficult to obtain, and will be on a class by class basis.

Update 5 – 6:03 EST – Zodiac weapon story will begin in 2.2 and will last throughout 2.25 and 2.3. Methods for obtaining end game gear will be similar to 2.0 and 2.1; through coil and tomestone usage.

Update 4 – 6:02 EST – Highest armor is 110. 90-95-100-110-115 is the order for gear progression.

Update 3 6:01 EST – Highest weapons ilvl is 115

Update 2 6:00 PM EST - Players can purchase up to two additional retainers for 200 yen (about $2) a month.

Update 1 5:38 PM EST - Leviathan weapons confirmed iLvl 100
