He's a Padjal, which isn't a race. It's the name given to those who serve as links between man and the elementals. He's just a Hyur, all Padjal are Hyurs by birth. It's as they grow, if they are chosen by the elementals, they sprout horns and stop aging (become immortal, only ever dying to unnatural means). They are EXTREMELY rare, and very gifted (only ones who are allowed to use White Magic, which is too dangerous to be used by just anyone).
