Locations we are still waiting for

We each have that place that we eagerly anticipate in the game let's list a few

Hellsguard Isles: I must be one of the few people who enjoyed the volcanic regions in FFXI, be it the isle released with Zilart or the Aht Urghan areas as a whole. Given the back story of the Hellsguard as keeping the denizens of the underworld at bay I think this would be a perfect location for a certain 3 headed hound to make his appearance.

Original Sea Wolf territories: This is a no-brainer, they based them on ancient viking raiders why not take showcase the northern lands not as a frozen wasteland but a dangerous tundra with foreboding forests large megafauna and such.

feel free to add your own ideas

Personally, I'm looking forward to opening up the floating isles of Nym, but I agree a volcanic region needs to open up. Almost every major level archetype is in place other than that. I would suggest that a volcanic area be included in a Mountain style area reminiscent of VII's Mountain Nible or XI's mountain with the trolls (Forgot the name....)

I think a wild savanah is needed. We don't really have that yet... Parts of Drybone start to head that direction, but we need a full sprawling Savannah themed area.

I think I would like to see an entire region based on something steampunk as well. We might see something like that if Garelmald ever opened up. It could be like the outer areas are steam-punk but the closer to the city you go, the more cyber-punk it becomes.

I've been wanting something like Ilrusi Atoll, but I think Hullbreaker Isle will fulfill that role. I always loved everything about Ilrusi Atoll, but I always felt it was under-utilized due to the dangers of TS monsters and the fact it was a pain in the ass to traverse anyway due to requiring keys.

    • Dravania
    • Closest Beastmen Homelands: the cursed canyons of Xelphatol and the rolling steppes of Pagltha'an.
    • Western Coerthas, which is blocked off by a suspicious Glacier.
    • Coerthas Lowlands.
    • Of course Abalethea's Spine, where the Native Warriors of the Hellguard make their home.

So far that's what I'd like to see, not counting Ala Mhigo and the surrounding Gyn Abania. Those will likely be added in the next expansion.

The City State Ala Mhigo, where, God willing, we'll get the 24 man 'Assault on Castrum X' raid I've been wanting so bad.

^This. I want to see my character's birthplace, and maybe kick the Garleans out of there for good.

Really though, I'll be happy with just having Ishgard finally opened up which all 1.0 players have been waiting for since 2010. Seeing that big fancy citadel teasing us and not being able to enter has been frustrating to no end.

EDIT: also it should go without saying I'd love to see also the 'missing' sections of zones from 1.0 return as well (the West Shroud for the Black Shroud and the parts of the North Shroud like Emerald Moss, the missing areas of Coerthas and the whole southern part of Mor Dhona around Camp Brittlebark, and of course, the old 'public' dungeons from 1.0, like Cassiopeia Hollow, Sophsae, Nanwa Mines, Mun-tuy Cellars etc). But I have a suspicion SE have deliberately not included these areas from launch as they've carefully kept them in reserve for later introduction as high-level areas after the level cap is increased. Or at least, I hope they have.

Mazlaya & the Pearl would be interesting to see. I'd imagine them to be tropical islands, given fish from the region are described as coming from warm seas, and the islands themselves are sort of in-between the Black Shroud and Thanalan. I'd also love to see the Farreach (Guessing that's where Shiva's beast tribe is~) and the mountains of Abalathia's Spine. In the far future, I'd hope to see Ilsabard as well. More specifically, the Imperial capital, regardless of how large of a pipe dream that is.

    Here's my prediction on Ishgard:

2.3 introduces Stone Vigil Hard, and the Shiva Beast tribe supposedly is in the dats.... I'm figuring at the end of 2.3, we'll go back to Coerthas to start investigating some things or there will be some big relation at the end of 2.3 pointing us to Ishgard. 2.4 will have a lot of content in Coerthas and the Ishgard story, and 2.5 will open it up finally. Along the way, parts of Coerthas will finally open up. I'm figuring Shiva showing up in 2.4 will be with the Holy See finally lightens up.
