[DEV] Will SE do another overall survey of the whole player base?

The one thing wrong with surveys is this, players almost always only think they know what they want.

My suggestion would be to make the survey in game, possibly a NPC in Mor Dhona who asks questions and you can submit a response. That way the results could be tallied by player account and allow PS3 and PS4 players to access it in game.

Polls are good tool when the developer are unsure and wants to see how the community feels but at the same time you can't let players micro manage every little decision that needs to be made. Sometimes the developers need to do what they need to do.

As for the forums, let's be honest. Players come here to complain. SE pays people to comb the forums, sift through the trash talk and drama, and bring the actually complaints to the team. Notice the community team responds to a lot of the post almost daily.

Having said that I wouldn't mind a new poll to help guide the developers in content for 3.0 considering 2.0 is based on the original feedback. I don't feel question like "should the game go F2P" is prudent because the poll should focus more on game design and content over financial decisions of a company.

I'm all for player polls, the last ones worked out really great actually.

Questions for the poll:
Would you like more content that allows you to explore the vast Eorzea?
Would you like more content that requires player cooperation?

This was an idea to specifically place content in the game that makes you explore even further than the current Treasure Hunting does. Rare Monster hunts perhaps? The second question was to address something missing from 1.0 > 2.0. Players depended on others more to make their world go 'round. I feel it is one aspect of the game that Yoshi-P has yet to touch on with all the positive steps taken already.

Would players like to see Materia be used as a cosmetic change to class/job abilities to endorse character diversity? As an example the Ultima Materia would change Black Mages Flare animation to the Ultima animation.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree it isn't good to micro manage~! It is more so, as many have pointed out, to make sure that the direction they are going in works for the fans and are the fans enjoying it. A very small majority of people who actually play the game come to the forums. So if someone complains about something, how do you know that it's really an issue or just a fact that 2% of the gaming community doesn't like it and the rest are fine with it.

SE will never make EVERYONE happy, but they can do a poll just to see if everyone is happy with the direction the game is going at the moment, and like ideas they have for the future~! I don't look at that as micro-managing, I look at it as making sure you're pleasing as much of your player base as possible, to keep players as long term as possible.

The only reason I mention that is due to the fact of a lot of people feel that a P2P game going to F2P means that game is failing. A lot of people don't want this game to fail and from the players I have spoke with they would rather stay P2P with regular updates and support than go F2P, risk the company loosing money and have the game possibly go under. Whats the point of focusing on a beautiful world and content if they stop making money?

Obviously Yoshi was only saying he's not against it, not that the game IS going F2P, but its better he know the mind of the players on that. Yes the financial side is up to SE, but asking if they would support F2P isn't a big deal.

I agree, almost everyone I know says they don't come to the forums for the reasons I mentioned in the first post, so I'm wondering out of the 1.8 million people SE says they have playing, what percentage of that is actually posting here. A poll would reach a larger majority of players and allow SE to get a better over all view of:

a) How do they feel the game is going
b) what new things would they like to see
c) anything else SE is wondering about

I agree! It doesn't mean they have to follow the majority 100%, but it would give them a good idea of where the overall mind of the payers are!

Are there any plans to add a "Hunts" board in the taverns across Eorzea a la FFXII?

I ask this because this could be something that would introduced side grade gear, or provide an avenue for solo play.

Log-in IMO because you would get trolls that create 8 characters and log in just to get their way.
