Coil Turn 5 - Twister help

This may be in the wrong place, but eh.

My group and I have been making progress this week on Turn 5 and are at the twister phase. Most of the people in my group have experience in the phase and this is the first that I've made it this far.

I don't really want to burden my team, so would anyone help me understand the twisters? I understand I need to focus target Twintania so I can keep an eye out for the twister cast. My question is do I start moving right at the beginning of the cast or towards the end?

Any help or tips for the rest of the fight is appreciated as well.

We start moving at the beginning of the cast, in small (but large enough to not be back at th start before the end of the cast) or in line (without crossing the path of someone else).

Thank you! That's what I thought, but I didn't want to assume without checking with people who have experience!

As long as you, don't stop moving till the cast finishes, and don't cross your own or anyone else's path they miss. I've seen circles, serpentine, straight lines(post nerd), and even cascading arcs toward the center by everyone work.

My group normally moves as soon as it starts casting , just in case of lag issues. And its also a good Idea to have someone call it out on Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrilo, etc. I'm the main tank in my group so I normally have her targeted anyway so I normally call it out for my group.

Tanking is a job, DPSing is a science and Healing is an art.
If the Tank dies, it's the Healer's fault. If the Healer dies, it's the Tank's fault. If the DPS dies, it's their own damn fault.

If you fight as a dragon, I think the most important thing is to discuss with your OT about which direction each of you going to run, since you two are most likely quite close to each other.
Also another very important thing for melee during twister phase is to move away from center just before dreadknight comes down.

I think the dread starts right after twister right? So while I'm trying to avoid twister, should I just keep as far away from Twintania as possible unless I'm not it's target?

Make sure all group members know their position during this phase and that they also know which way they'll be running away from twister. That way everyone always evades to same direction and people won't accidentally run into each others twisters.

Start running when the cast time starts and don't stop moving until you actually see the twisters. You can evade it any way you want, the important thing is not to retrace your steps or anyone elses steps. You can run straight forward or make a circle, whatever you're most comfortable with.

Twisters can also appear while dreadknights are up. I'm not sure if this is true but from my experience I also think that the person who's been stunned during DK will be targeted by twister every time (and if the DK dies during twister cast they can die).

And yes, everyone but the person who's stunning the DK should stay as far from the center as possible when DK is about to spawn. We use two tanks and the MT tanks Twintania at the edge of area while the OT stays at the center and melees stay on Twintania until DK has chosen its target. So everyone but our OT stay at the edges until we see who gets targeted.

Ideally on melee you would want to do a V formation (similar to the ifrit ex except you are on the outside as opposed to the OT) with the MT to give you side and rear access without crossing the OT. I've never seen it done though. In the more common event the tanks are in i formation it is safe to run at the nearest person to the outside as (in my experience) twisters when happening with dread knights give between 6-10 seconds between bind and twisters.

For escape territory ideally the OT runs away in the center and you keep moving with the dread knight, most say split down the middle of dread knight tank goes 1 way melee goes the other.

Our Main Tank usually calls out whenever twister is coming that way whenever we heard him we knew to move. (But having focus target on twin is really helpful because its not 100% that a tank will call it.) Most people do small circles but you can get caught in it and die if your not careful. Our Dragoon is usually 2nd on threat since we 1 tank it and usually doesn't have to worry about getting dreads but I would suggest trying to do a beeline out and then coming back in. Like Lollie suggested a "V" formation is what I've seen our dragoon do if he died early on and lost 2nd threat.

Also make sure you try not to "jump" abilities during twister phase I've seen - many times - where the tanks twister will hit the dragoon and the both of them spontaneously die.
