Switching gears sets "gear not found"

Sorry if this has been asked a million times,but its driving me nuts now.Almost every other day when changing gear sets,i get the message NOT ALL GEAR FOUND.Question is why and where is it going please? .I have 9 different sets so is the interface auto swapping them?

There was recently a change in how the game handles gearsets, if there is a different color, different set of materia, etc, now it instead of failing and not putting on the gear it instead puts the closest approximation. However, since that was a new addition and those gearsets are probably older, you probably don't have the materia setups saved on them so it keeps throwing you the error, just update them.

Also, it will not recognize gear you have in your inventory. It has to be in the armory chest. Just on the off chance that your stuff is in the wrong spot.

You can also easily tell if something is on a gear set by looking at the item's icon in the Armory Chest. If it has a little page symbol attached to the bottom right of the icon, it means that piece of gear is currently set to one of your gear sets. That way you don't accidentally store the item in the Armoire or give it to a Retainer.

Thank you to you both for your replies,they will prove to be a great help.
However when i reloaded my leather worker today,i had the same message come up.
Same thing again a item had gone from the set.Not materia but belt i had on his waist.
I have made sure that all gear sets are fully equipped but still get this problem.
I know it is something i am doing wrong but not sure what.Is it the way i am converting items into materia?
I take them off and put them into armory then convert.
I also make sure i have an item ready to replace it in my inventory and replace it from there.

Try switching spiritbonded item with new, update the list and then convert?

Assuming you keep having to re-equip the items i would say your issue is that you are not saving the changes to your gear sets. There is a little Dual arrow icon on your character page that updates the current gear set. Also you can go into your gear set page and click Re-assign i believe to update it as well. About to head in game here so i will verify.

Thank you Axle.I am using a ps3 and hitting triangle button everytime to save it.
