Plan to remove benefit for failing leves?

First of, let me say that I don't care whether SE recognizes this tactic as an exploit (read: cheating) or not. The fact of the matter is that any system that rewards you more for failing an objective than completing it is broken and bad game design. The people who are using this tactic are by definition exploiting bad game design to rush through the game as fast as possible. It's not an opinion.

Now we have entry requirements on leve parties that you must have the most optimal leves for linking or you can't play? I see people shouting that in Uldah all the time. If this continues it will be just another huge turn off for new players. In addition, what new player is going to endure abuse from another party member because they completed what they thought was supposed to be their objective?

I think that the solution is to balance the rewards for leves and ensure that no subset gives substantially more SP than all of the rest. If they were all more or less the same, then there'd be no incentive to fail specific ones.

I guess my question now is, does anyone know if SE plans to address this in future updates? I haven't seen anything posted recently one way or the other.

If it wasn't a substantial benefit, then people wouldn't go out of their way to do it and restrict other people from playing with them if they don't have the most optimal leves.

I'm not blaming the players, I'm blaming the poor design, and I think the solution I offered in my original post would do away with the problem. If the game continues on with the "failure is the best option" mantra for leves, I think you may as well apply that to the game as a whole. Its just one of the many broken systems that need to be addressed.

We're missing out on gil, faction credits, and marks by not completing leves. That's enough for me. Leave the leves as they are, thanks.

How much of that really matters? Gil falls out of the sky... anything I've seen as rewards so far for faction leves I can buy with gil... and after you get the few skills you care about marks no longer matter.

The fact of the matter is that it's still broken game design. Anyone who argues otherwise just doesn't want to give up the benefits they receive for exploiting it.

Well, when you fail all your leves, gil does not fall out of the sky. Try it, you'll see. Some of us would rather try 'the old fashioned way' for our faction gear so buying it is not an option. And lastly, if you fail all your leves, you can easily get to 50 and not have enough marks for all the skills from that class.

So I'll say it again, we're loosing out on enough already by failing leves, we don't need more punishment for doing so.

How would you be further punished if the leve rewards were balanced, removing the incentive to fail them on purpose? In fact if they removed the incentive then you would end up much more gil, faction points, and marks. Clearly the SP reward is much more valuable than whatever else you get from completing the leves or you wouldn't see just about everyone doing it. Again, a system that rewards people who TRY to fail is broken and needs to be fixed.
