    How is the game doing?

    Hello all,
I played the first month or so the game was out and I think we can all agree, while the visuals are amazing, it was a little lackluster as far as mechanics, quests, and such. I was wondering if these issues have been addressed since release. I would like to get back into FFXIV, but don't want to put down the money for the subscription if nothing much has changed. I tried looking for "post-release" reviews, but they all seem to focus on the game at release, and not the game as it is now.

    Thank you for your input.

Isn't changed much, but a lot of thing are gone much better. very soon patch 1.18 will go live, with auto-attack, class balancing, 2 istanced dungeons and more.
Btw the game right now isn't charging any subscription, so you can log on and see from yourself '-'

They're not charging subscription fees until they feel the game is worth it. It's been free since release. If you stopped playing before the first month ended it's probably worth checking out. No real content has come in yet (that's coming in 1.18, which is coming up...soonish), but since release

    -SP system has been changed
    -Accuracy is better
-Max party size has been reduced
    -Anima costs have been reduced
    -Market Ward searching
-The horrific UI lag that was in for the first month or so of the game is (mostly) gone
    -Battle Regimens work
-Puddings, goblins, and mites were added. Also some crappy NMs
-Sidequests with quest markers and guild tasks (both are a little basic right now though)
-Leveling pre-24 is insanely fast. After that it keeps a decent pace but gets boring (sup BW3)
-High Quality drops are now all +3 so it doesn't clutter inv as much (inventory size was increased too I think)
    -Gear doesn't decay as quickly
-Crafting is a lot better in general (I don't craft so I can't remember many specifics)
-Stack sizes up (999 arrows instead of 99, etc)
    -MP regen
    -Better targeting with controllers
    -a bunch of other stuff

might as well check it out (or wait til 1.18 is out).

The games free at the moment so honestly trying it out really can't hurt you. I've seen an increase of player base after yoshi-p Announced the release of 1.8 soon. Which will introduce end game (finally >.>) Afterwards he said hes going to introduce the major patches... so hopefully the game makes some progress. All in all the game hasn't changed at all other then the ui not being AS laggy as it was from release, but still is. So anyways coming back you really have nothing to lose.

Come back when they starts charging, it's still not at the level of its competitor and won't be for probably quite sometime.

More or less this, the devs are completely redoing the core of the game atm.

new battle system, new focus (leves are becoming a minor part of the game), new quest systems, company system, endgame, midgame, tutorial dungeons, new classes, new UI being developed, defensive battles, Mounts, transportation, new zone, material system, changed to the crafting system. And probally other things I forgot or the devs have not mentioned. All before the end of September if they stay on schedule. Devs also mentioned PvP and Jump but no definite time line on those yet.

We are not being charged until all the above is added most likely, so I would check it out. The current game is trully going to die soon, and be remade into something else.

If what they say is true what you see now will not be FFXIV in about 4 months.
