Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working. (Crash on startup)

Details:
Whenever I try to start up FFXIV, the game "crashes" and I get the FFXIV has stopped working message. This message occurs on the screen where the updater would appear.
This error has started about several days ago (Jun. 30th?). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but I still receive this message.

Fixed. There was a strange file in my temp folder that was stopping me from playing any video game on my computer... How embarrassing!
