Why I've not been playing as a Paladin lately...

just remember as a tank u have advantage over other class (faster queue time). if they dont like the pace you tanking mob, let them leave. DPS have to wait 30+ min usually to get in dungeon thru DF. tank only have to wait 5 +- min. plus it tank less than 5 min to replace DPS.

On the Flipside......Since leveling my SMN, I'm begining to notice alot of Tanks can be douches too. Just today in DF AK, I partied with a WAR who wanted to do a speed run. He pulled way to much causing the party to wipe and called the healer trash and said our Blm DPS was horrible. After the wipe, he pulled Big again, said Im done with you noobs and left DF mid fight, causing us to wipe again. Now that I think about it, should of took his name and reported him. Some Tanks abuse their power and let that go to their head.

@OP i90WAR/i80 PLD here so I know your pain, we all have been thru it. My advice to you dont let people deter you if you like the class. Don't get defensive if someone give you advice on how to tank better, and ignore the A holes. On harder content research the encounters, live and learn. Remember, without you their not going to get anything done.

Because, and I'm assuming he has the same reason as me, it is boring. If I am tanking a dungeon, I am going to tank at my own pace in order to enjoy myself.

Your the tank if they don't like the way you play tell them they got 3 choices they can go at your pace they can kick rocks or they can boot uoy and you will find a group in a sec while they will be waiting 30 mins ez finding a nee one or going on DF again for an hour then mock them over it

While people will be elitists and assume you know things you haven't learned yet (people have really high expectations of others just entering of Sastasha, it's strange), you can't go through kicking EVERYONE who says you're not playing your job as well as you could be. Learning from others and from your own mistakes is a part of growing, if you just take what they say with a grain of salt you'll never understand how to improve yourself. That said, if someone is JUST harassing you and expecting you to know everything about the dungeon/game from start to finish your first time experiencing it... then feel free to do what Alice said.

i did so many SR on tank, healer, blm, etc...
but when i enter , lately usually as tank, i always look at the setup, the gear etc. Many ppl do want Speedruns even though their jobs don't really fit and the gear also isn't good enough to do a proper speedrun.
So you end up being slower pushing a SR which is stupid.

So i always ask the people if they want a SR or if they wanna take it slow. The difference isnt that huge and if i really want to grind tomes i get people for a speedrun and do it with them multiple times in a row.

But i agree with many people here, take your time, and don't let them annoy you. I lvled my tanks last, cause ive seen how badly people treat them (no kidding). Its a shame but thats the way it is.


Lately on Garuda X (never MT it just OT) we waited for hrs in partyfinder. Didnt find a tank, so i said, ok ill do it, but im no pro. Things didnt go smooth (which wasnt all my fault as well). But 2 people left after 3 attempts (perhaps 10 min all together) because they wanted to win...

They rather wait another 2 hours to get a tank that "maybe" a pro, then get it done with a guy that is new to tanking X and in the end the community ends up with another tank that is able to do it. If people continue to treat tanks like they actually do, i'm not surprised at all, why tanks just won't join random groups anymore. Sad but true.

So, since getting to 50, I've almost regretted levelling the Paladin job.

As a new tank, I am extremely intimidated by other, more geared level 50s. It mainly has to do with the Main Scenario dungeons. Because I don't know the fights or am not confident enough to do speed runs, people mock me and treat me with exasperation.

Yes, I am. If you want to go fast, go level a tank yourself. >_<

Be nice to your tanks, people.

If people are nasty to me when tanking, I just leave. If you join dungeon and someone has proble you're new or doing slow run, just drop. Let them wait another 30min for their 'perfect' tank and you join party that will be happy to have you.
