It's nice that they're adapting the systems for catch-up properly, but I'd love to know if the developers ever plan to fix the massive clashing between the FFXI-style job swapping and WoW-style per character lockout/point systems making alts so difficult to play.

As it stands, until you're very deep or very lucky into a content patch, it's not even feasible to have an alt, making this a once a week game for the STRONG majority of our guild.

They already mentioned a number of times that you arent going to lose them. You will be able to talk to an NPC and convert your philosophy credits into mythology.

In WoW there was something similar. They have "Justice" points (philosophy) and "Valor" points. (mythology)
When a new tier/patch comes out, usually they reset the Valor points you farmed.
    What happens is:
    1) Your Valor Point gets added to your Justice Points
    2) The gear you could buy with Valor, u'll be able to buy with Justice and new better gear will be buyable with Valor

    What's gonna happen here exactely?
Pretty sure the patch notes said that we will be able to turn in our philo tomes for myth tomes. Not sure the exchange rate though.

They've already confirmed that there will be an npc you can talk to in order to convert them to myth.

I don't think this will ever be a priority for SE because, really, no matter how you slice it, there's no real point in leveling an alt. Every character has access to every class and job. Even if you could INSTANTLY match an alt character's exp and levels to another character, why would you even bother? You could use it to get around weekly caps, but those caps are in place for a reason, and SE certainly wouldn't want to encourage bypassing those limits.

Another potential reason for leveling an alt is for the opportunity to play as a different race - but with Fantasia becoming more accessable, even that reason is going away... The existence of Fantasia pretty much nixes the possiblity of there ever being race-specific jobs, as well.

Probably the only reason to play an alt at all is to re-experience the storyline (perhaps from the perspective of starting in a different town). Since the goal in that case IS to start from nothing, it's not too surprising that SE wouldn't be making any changes there either.

What are you talking about? I have an alt and it gives me stuff to do each week. Its i88 MNK now, and I find it very useful. I can clear Coil T1-5 on my main, then teach FC members who don't have the down yet T5 on my alt. It gets me 2 runs of coil each week, 2 myth caps to hit, 2 primal EX clears a week, 2 CT items a week, makes getting a second high geared job even easier.. Umm... ya.. There is lots of reasons to level an alt.

In 2.2 I'll probably be a little busier on my main getting content down, but any off days I'll surely be catching my alt up where I can. It is to the point where other FC leaders are leveling alts just so they can help other FC members with content like I'm doing. It has worked out well, and gotten members T5 clears they otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

It already said in the 2.2 patch notes you can convert philo to myth. But what they didn't tell us...the conversion rate. That's what I really came here to find out haha.

Weapon customization sounds like Magian Moogle trials, but...nothing can ever suck as bad as that in XIV, just from how the game is built haha.

You farmed up the items from monsters or mining/botany...they USED to exist from outside of vendors. I70 also includes the old Giantsgall/tail or whatever weapons that used to drop from Skirmish.
Wisen up? Lol His plan was for 2.0 to be the BASE content, and gradually make more complex systems.

I can see the Zodiac weapon stuff being more along the lines of Val'Anyr (bosses drop fragments, kill bosses repeatedly and collect all fragments). At least I hope so. Don't need the "you must kill a boss in a specific way to progress" objectives that Shadowmourne had.
The issue with those quests, is that if someone else in your raid was also doing it, only one of you could advance the quest. Requiring 25 weeks of full clears was kinda BS, and then basing it on luck to get the required fragments/PSaronites ...
