2.2 Retainers via Microtransactions

When I read about this I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Having a cash shop for any items at all is walking a fine line, if they limited it to things like fantasias, I think i could deal with it. But, if they start adding what are basically P2W features like extra retainers that are only available through paying real money, that is just bullshit. I also get the impression Yoshi sees this game going F2P some day and if that is the case I'm gone. One of the reasons I was drawn to this game is that it is a subscription based game.

In my case, I keep all the primal weapons, relic & primal EM and CT gear and my other retainer is keeping materials for crafting. So dont mind at all. I am running out of space on both retainer soon if I cant hire more retainer.

that, I am not sure since the crafting is technical useless in this game as we speak, and the FC who have housing have more or less multi lvl 50 craft and gathering so they can even farm stuff themself even w/o the retainer. So have like 5-6 retainer farm mats for you doesnt really feel like a pay to win for me cos you didnt really win anything or have any big advantage.

The point is, you pay for retainers to gather for you, whereas otherwise you would need to put the effort yourselves.

but you can only gather 1 item/time/retainer and it is an hour before you can get the item. If you teleport to X location to gather, you might be able to gather 2-3 of the materials you need for the craft while the retainer can only gather 1.

The way I can see how retainer gather can work effective is for them to gather material drop from mobs like the apkalu eggs where there are huge competition between player.

So if you ask me, I might as well go and gathering myself because it is more effective and the jobs done faster

me my only concern will be the price, if it's 1 dollars per month in usa and that they ask us in europe 1 euro i will be kinda angry... because the dollars and the euro are not at the same value. and i will fill a bit.... well it's not fair.

You do know it's already IS the case with subscriptions... (haven't checked the "extra services" like server transfer) but looks like it will keep being the case. What all the NA players that throw their money at forget is that we European will have to pay moar for it cause lolSE (though I'm not European myself lol But SE decided to group me with them *shrug*).

But well Europe never been too noisy about it, so I guess SE still don't care. Some went and faked an NA account, and some (blaming myself too) just shut up and pay lol (except mentioning it in the forums for a few times).

More Bag Space
Name Changes
Race Changes
More Character slots
Server Transfers

We pay our sub for the basic game and I have no problems paying more dollars to add the above items to my account. IF they start adding items that make the game Pay2Win then I will start screaming.

Australia is NOT and never has been part of Europe yet we are forced by SE to pay the equivalent of the Euro to play the game. I got a huge shock back in the beginning when I signed up for $65 for 3 months and instead got charged $95. I said I wouldn't keep paying after that sub ran out but sadly I wasn't finished with the game at the time it did so coughed up again.

And I cant help this but I have to say to all you people saying the RMTers are going to fill their accounts with extra retainers to send them out farming ARE YOU SERIOUS??? ONE real life person will make them more in one hour than 10 retainers will. Sending retainers out to gather 7 items per hour isn't going to break the game or make it pay to win. I have ALL DoL and DoH maxed and I did them all at the same time, I had to get 2nd, 3rd and 4th chars lvld so I could get retainers on them and then I created an FC and joined all my chars up to it so I could use the FC Bank to shift things between chars.

I am always running close to the wind with full retainers and FC bank. I'm so happy to get new retainers because I can fill them up and leave my alts in the FC and go join one with real live people in it

2014 - FFXIV - each retainer is separately paid for, after the first two 'free' ones
