No, the real issue is in that charging for it doesn't seem to be needed and that it doesn't follow with what they've been doing and saying until now. Not to mention all the other potential issues that others have pointed out.

    Also, I'm sorry, but the armoire issues are related to retainers as well, as we have to store in them some items (19 right now, if not mistaken) for 3 months until they allow us to put them in the armoire as they should be from the start (that's what said feature is intended to do). I never complained about that before because it didn't really matter if it was just temporary, I was able to have some patience. But when they start charging real money for retainer space (thus making any wasted space worth actual money), thats where I have to say "there's the limit".

    Selling retainers was a relic from 1.0 at launch. It was SEs plan to sell them at the start of the game and I didn't see anyone complaing about it back then. But when the game didn't do so well they took out the idea and just gave everyone 2 because very few people would buy them.

    I hope they don't go the WoW route and put the coolest mounts and pets in the store, one of the reasons why I don't play that game anymore. Blizzard tested the waters with some sparkle pony mount celestial steed I think it was and they made like 20 million dollars in the first day of people buying this mount for $25 a pop so now they started to release a bunch of mounts.

    If your paying a sub fee you should be able to get all the games mounts and pets doing stuff in game not by buying them on a store.

    Oh, I agree with this completely. The most I'm willing to accept is getting a minion from buying the soundtrack (since the soundtrack is the real reason why I'm making the purchase). The most they should sell is stuff like phials of phantasia, name changes and server transfers.

    I'm against that. An RPG should have permanent choices, and those two are pretty much the only once that are semi-permanent at the moment.

    But they never given up the plan to sell extra retainers.
    Or they wouldn't have written this as they announced the coming fee in december 2011 before they activated p2p service:

    A single player rpg that lasts 60-80 hours, yes, should have permanent choices.

    A multi-player RPG that drastically changes 4 times a year, and will likely be running 7-10 years? No. If something changes, I want to be able to make use of said change and not have to start over.

    Well, I have yet to find a game that won't allow you to do something based on your name and appearance. Well, unless it's male/female thing. But usually then, there are 2 versions of the same thing.

    But when they introduce new races, some people want to switch them. Or as far as names go, they choose a silly name because they didn't think they would play the game seriously, and later in life regretted it as they found out they really liked X game and want to stick with it. It's really all about not wanting to loose progression with your main character but wanting to adjust things like race and such. Or for people are into rp'ing or just really into the lore, I'd imagine they would want lore appropriate names if they switched race. I know I have a friend who wants to change his lallafel into something else, but he would be stuck with a lala name and it's the only reason he doesn't use his phantasia.
