Thread: 2.2 Retainers via Microtransactions

Ugh trying to read 22 pages of people screaming "THIS IS P2W".. But one thing I did seem to notice is people just saying "XI would never do this".
Does no one seriously remember getting a mog satchel/sack whatever it was called when you bought a token. See most people seem to forget that. XI had huge inventory space issues. Buying a token was a no brainer for extra space. That allowed me to be better than some of my counterparts when it came to healing cause I had access to my highly situational gear.

Now I would never call that p2w because that was far from it. It was a service I purchased to allow me to have more space. I don't think it was some sort of slippery slope nor do I think being able to purchase something that changes my race is either. This is not XI I'm not trying to get ahead but becoming a taru for that added INT bonus.. it's so silly. I really doubt FF would ever boil down to "Buy this new super starter pack golden edition for 50bucks."

I'm confused. How is extra retainers or Fantasia potions = P2W? If the extra retainer is going to be used for ventures, well... you'll only be doing that oh so much and if SE are "smart", they'll have the venture use Leve allowances. So unless you have all crafting, gathering and battle classes levelled to 50, I'm pretty sure everyone ill be careful to not spam venture.

If I'm entirely missing the point, then I'm sorry. I honestly don't see how buying an extra Retainer and Fantasia potion = P2W.

In 1.0 it cost a dollar a month per retainer per character beyond one retainer. This is nothing new people. In fact 1.0 charged you by character as well. They are just reintroducing the original subscription model(modified), and you guys cry like no tomorrow. Forum users overreact worse then any group of people I've ever witnessed. Gossiping rumormonger seem to be the normal mindset of forums frequenters. You don't know how the new retainer system works, but that's okay. You'll make it up as you go, make a ranting thread, and get most of it wrong.

Wow. Almost everyone thinks that all retainers do is bank space and soon ventures. From what we've seen so far, ventures won't bring in much money. It's the market board slots that'll make people playing the market lots more money. Buy 2 more retainers, double your profit. Buy 4, triple. etc.

That is IF things sell and sell VERY slowly. And just because u got more sell slot doesn;t mean ur profit go up.

I think it's gonna be fun to outwit the retainers gathering things like Akpallu eggs, they'll likely return with none At least it will make farming them a bit more interesting. Am I paying rl cash for new retainers? NO....I'm hoping, like many others, that this isn't the slippery slope to buy extras that matter from Mog station. If this mode continues, there are other sub games coming out, we'll just move on once again as our favourite game goes to pot.

i dont like this idea of paying real money for an additional retainer. it should give no added benefit that puts one player over another. it should strictly be additional storage space and that is all and be a nominal cost, like $1 for permanent access to one additional retainer. but really the whole idea doesnt sit well with me.

So many here pissing on their pants over nothing.

P2W ? Retainer slots ? Really ?
Additional Retainers = More marked board slots ? Did yoshi confirm this ? No? Then how do you know about it?
