Character Create and Immersion Enrichment Options

Not sure if it's been talked about or not, but...

Can we get some diversity for character models? Like different battle stance, emote, and individual mannerism options?

Last I recall every race would have their own race specific action animations, or at least it was being discussed relevantly.

I feel like this is a pressing issue with MMO now a days, not enough "personal touch" content..

I wouldn't call any of that "pressing." Not that I would be against it being added at some point if the developers choose, but right now I would rather they worry about the genuine "pressing" issues of content and balance. You know, things that actually impact gameplay.

For some this is part of the gameplay. Take PSO2 as an example, that's an action game with an action gameplay, but also adds close to limitless character appearance customizations that keeps being updated and added every update. Me and the people I know in the game may spend hours upon hours utilizing and playing with all the options as well as refresh our character looks every few days... That is hours of gameplay for some people. In that perspective and if done right, that IS "content " too.

Of course with all that said we're not playing a "dress-up" game, but at the moment, compared to PSO2 and other online games the character creation and appearance customization (pre-mirage prism) is lacking. We can't even select body types, like fat/slim etc, we can't make young kiddish looking characters, and for old looking ones we only have faces with not matching bodies to go with. And ALL the animations except emotes and sitting poses, are shared through all genders and races as far as I know.

A thousand times YES. I remember back during BETA testing I had suggested several times to give us the option to choose a "mood" that would affect how we perform emotes. A big example is Keepers of the Moon, a race that by lore is brooding and prefers solitude. I would've liked to be able to set my character to give quieter and less happy-like emotes than she does. The facial emotes are "ok", but they last too short (not sure why they didn't make them toggle-able like /sit), and even then, the body language is all wrong for my character to look brooding and well... "adult". An option to give us different moods and stances would be really great.

Well my concern goes beyond just appearance, I want to give my character an in-game persona.

For example it's kind of unfair/lazy of SE to give male Roegadyn a different battle stance than every other race. That's part of the game and an obvious lack of effort to patching in more options for other races, it's like they started a project then just decided to put it in the back burner. That's "content", unfairly so. Another example was the Cognitome's lack of animation when using SCH specific spells, which in term they patched in... eventually. So yes, I'd say it's pretty "pressing" for them to fix/add similar options that are denied to certain people and granted to a select few others i.e. male roegs and cognitome in comparison to those that don't/didn't have either.

I would REALLY like to see this done, since I don't like a lot of the emotes and especially the idle stance of the male Miqo'te. Lukh'a is a polite and kind of shy Keeper, and it's just weird for him to be moving around like some brash Seeker.

Maybe we could be given the ability to set a 'personality' for our character, that would change things like standing and running animations? Maybe changable via the Aesthetician, or learned from a purchasable or craftable item?

That's basically what I want them to add.
