    [Future] Use of FATE System

    I'll test the waters here and am sure to get majority of negative responses, but here goes;

    What if they create a battle system around Eorzea prior to ARR(1.xx), a pseudo Dynamis Style battle, where you enter an Aether Portal to the past and have to face the gauntlet of suped-up FATEs from different Zones.

    Coerthas you would start at the Observatory and make your way to Svara as a final boss.

    Cancer could be the Boss for La Noscea.

    Lazy Laurence for Shroud.

    Chimera up in Thanalan.

    Drops would be chests upon completing the FATEs which hold a variety of Items from Currency to Rare Items needed to further upgrade your Relic Weapons / Armor etc...

    Thoughts? Suggestions on how to make this work? Or Negative Comments on how it Won't Work?

    Battles like this have been spoken of by the community before. Would be fun.

    But stop trying to make brackets on thread titles a thing. There's no support for them on the forum engine.

    Oh I did it for Emphasis for the Reader, not really for Search Functionality. #cry

    Are we playing the same game? Everything in FFXIV is Instances. Quest Battles, Dungeons and this will not change unless they remake the game again. . . . ~ A Realm ReRisen to be Released Easter Sunday 2015.

    While everyone is hoping for Open World content, its a pipe dream.

    I can see them introducing NM type Mobs but they will be Instanced Fights as well. Like Chimera from 2.0, or "Wanted" mobs from Leves.

    Dynamis, from XI, was an instanced world. If you remember, for the longest time, only 1 Group per Server was allowed to enter at a time. Thinking back on it now, that was completely ridiculous.

    Are we playing the same game? Everything in FFXIV is Instances. Quest Battles, Dungeons and this will not change unless they remake the game again. . . .
    Why is that? its not like you need a new engine for an open world content. Just need a different brain making contents.

    While everyone is hoping for Open World content, its a pipe dream.
    Same thing can be said about FFXIV in 1 year, when people leave of boredom and repetitiveness.

    Dynamis, from XI, was an instanced world. If you remember, for the longest time, only 1 Group per Server was allowed to enter at a time. Thinking back on it now, that was completely ridiculous.
    That is all the 15 yr old engine could do, but that was 15 yrs ago, we can have multiple parties enter, but of course the difference between FFXI "instance" and FFXIV instance is huge.

    FFXIV dungeon is compared to a BCNM area, not Dynamis.

    the difference between FFXI "instance" and FFXIV instance is huge. FFXIV dungeon is compared to a BCNM area, not Dynamis.

    Instanced dungeons in XI / XIV are no different in the core of their use, Meaning y .... never mind not going to argue or waste my time.

    Now I know you are just throwing the word engine around to look smart, the engine for a game is client side, it has nothing to do with how many instances of a dungeon there is.

    The problem with FFXI is they had very limited capacity for instances, so there was only one instance of each dungeon therefore only one person could enter, in the modern day when we use separate instance servers, have huge server capacity we can have many many more, but there are still limits, try getting everyone on your data center to join the same dungeon, and watch as the game is unable to reserve the instance.

    This was only true for only Dynamis, the other instances were open to who ever wanted to enter.

    Dynamis, Einherjar, Limbus and I believe Salvage (could be wrong on the latter), but instances like BCNMs, KSNMs and even Assault weren't (basically the ones that used very little server resources.
