I also made mention of a teleport to said retainer.

But even still isn't that a problem anyway? I know ffxi AH's had that issue.

I think no matter what there will be a competition for items. Thays how things are. I just want to see a neater set up, and a less claustrophobic zone.

Talking immersion, but a dark box with random npc standing in random spots in some cases on top of each other is immersion breaking.
Neatly set up rows of stalls in an open air zone is more immersive. In my eyes. And again adding a teleport feature will get you to that retain as the teleport is linked to the spot.
Granted EQ's Bazaar was messy, as is the Market Wards off FFXIV but they had market stalls in EQ and they were set off to the sides of the walls in the zone rooms and hallways leaving clear isles for people to walk down but even then you'd get four of five people crowded into a tent making you tab through them instead of just being able to click on the person you wanted. Also there are stalls in each of the Market Wards now for your retainer to sit in and sell your stuff. You just have to rent them out. And they are arranged on the sides of the zone so as to keep the middle clear. The reason no one uses them is that they cost or don't know they are there.

As for being magically teleported to the vendor of choice I for some reason see this as being a problem. With the amount of people using the zone being blinked all over the place is likely able to cause it to crash.

or going from ward one ward to another? as most ppl don't sell in the correct wards anyway (as from what i'm told) like say you go to the ward for food do a search for a meat dish turns out the cheapest retainer is selling 5 in a ward far from ya. Now you gotta run to said ward. enter it then wait for load and find your retainer. and in that time all five were baught from someone looking for a different item and saw those.
As for no one or even hardly anyone being in the correct ward is a non issue if you ask me. After all when you set up your bazaar are you selling only armor, or weapons, or woodworking mats. No you're selling all of the above plus the random crap you collected while leveling, doing leves, and such. The fact that we can only hire two retainers has made this the norm.

It has been mentioned much before: my vote is for a 'Teleport' option from the item search counter. I would like to see this implimentation followed by the various market wards combined into a large open marketplace.

Auction House. Did that solve your problem?

right this isn't the topic for that. I personally hate auction houses. Log inti ffxu right now and start a new character. There are 0 items, or items that got 10K or higher.

But retainers can work with an Auction house. Since there will be a limit on how many items you can place. I like the idea of the wards since in ffxi you had to keep the game running to sell stuff in a personal shop. Wars are a good idea if properly designed.

And I hope you are are not skimming what I write. I do make mention of it being neater. As in premade location nor random plops as what is going on now. Retainer stall will be neatly placed not scattered in random locations. And in neat easy to walk around zones.

I personally was just stating an Idea. Or my vision when I heard market wards.

I just wish in reality they are neater and not in small dark mog house rooms. Full of random mess of npcs.

Am I missing something? This is what they have now. Or do you want to go back to the times of 6,000 retainers and NPCs jammed into a single area to the point that you're taking two steps and waiting to see if more character models are going to load?

We have this. I'm not sure of all the categories for stalls, but Weapons, Armor, and Bric-a-Brac are definitely included. I think there are one or two others.

I didn't read the other responses, but I think that makes us about even, as you haven't played the game.

    Good idea and all, but...

If the retainer system is even kept (or not somehow opened to cross-city access on a global scale), it will only contribute to more "ghost towning" (i.e. Gridania / Black Shroud and soon to be Limsa).

It's unfortunate really, but the retainer system is just going to make things confusing for new players (who are wondering where everyone is ^.^)

Hey guys lets try something new here. Instead of hating my idea, work with it, change it up. And I was more talking no middle area. It will be neat and tidy with no way to be messy as I hate messy. And I was more going instead of renting stalls, it comes with the set up and in a premade grind format much like a mog house. it will prevemt stalls /retainers to be ontop of each other. There will be enough space to walk around. And enough spots so other towns can/will be filled to prevent ghosting.
As for the teleport it goes to that retainer. and loading shouldn't be an issue since no one will be in a mass pile.

Please don't skim posts. Or you will have read that part. Posting any idea on this forum is such a pain. You guys seriously need to get a change in attitudes.

If you dislike my idea just don't post. Or add /change it. That is what we should be doing, brain storming. Not shooting down ideas just because you don't see what others do. Or skim posts and get the wrong ideas.

Clearly, you assume that your ideas for a game that you have never played must have value. I personally think an AH has value. Instead of hating my idea, work with it. If you don't like an AH, just don't post.

    Am I doing it right?

Retainers need more of a purpose than being a pod storage unit able to bazaar a few goods with no price history.
The purpose of retainers could be fleshed out a little more with more options for the players to interact with the game world.
My idea like Kilta's would be to just have one large market ward, but the groupings of like kind items would have their own dedicated NPC auctioneer to keep a little bit of the run around and eliminate the choose item>blackout>teleport>buy item rinse and repeat action and enable me to remain engaged in constant play and have more time to actually play.
Retainers should have never been the sole way to get your items sold. I was thinking they could appraise items, act as a mailbox delivering and sending messages, and as a delivery system to send items to other players. They should also be the one from which you set up your auction, then the retainer would set the auction up with the corresponding auctioneer depending on what item you sell from anywhere might I add. And they should be doing the scanning and bidding if you set them to search of a requested item, and when it appears for sale, should be able to bid to an amount set by you.
I like the stalls in the middle in grid format proposed by the OP, but it should be something of an achievement if you are a high lvl crafter for players that solely like to craft of the game. There is just no merit of enjoyment the way things are now, but I think that building the mood of the game is just as important as the mechanics. A large market would bring us together and that would be an opportune time to sell from your own personal bazaar.
