Master Fisher's Ring - Please change it

Hello, in the previous patch you added in the following:

Master Fisher's Ring
GP +22
Defense +1
Magic Defense +1
Durability Loss +10
Item Level: 55
Requires: FSH

This is a reward for the Achievement "I Caught That III" which is awarded once the player catches 160 Fish (That's around 30~40 shy of all the fish in the game).

The main problem with this item is that GP is absolutely useless on Fisherman; Fisherman have no use for GP, and have no way to utilise it, thus making it a vanity piece at best. You might as well stick with a HQ Raptorskin Ring with a Gathering/Perception Meld. Unfortunately you also cannot meld anything to this ring either, so that's not an option; and while the Durability Loss is nice, there is no reason to have GP on this item. Please would the dev team consider changing this item to have Gathering or Perception on it instead, as it currently stands, there is little reason to wear it, which is a shame due to it's requirements to obtain.

Seems like a design oversight, unless they intend to add some abilities for Fishermen with this Big Fishing stuff in the next patch.

Fisherman's crafted gear (the 2 star AF tier) also has GP in it. It really is a silly oversight. Replace it with perception or get rid of it.

Would also like to see an increase in Rod stats as we don't have an off hand item for Fishing.. yet

Read this thread and then read the full notes today for 2.2. I agree in that the master's ring makes no sense and melding to an aetheryte ring is what I do anyway and use raptor's for the other dol.
This is what I gathered from 2.2 full notes for fishing today. I was hoping for big game fishing to be something really challenging and exciting but doesn't seem that way. That forager's rod.. anyone know the stats yet?

I get the feeling that achievement rewards, including luminaries now, are not intended to be "best in slot." You don't really see people complaining about their paragon's crown not trumping their relic hat, and DoL should be no different.

While GP is useless for a fisher, I think it has more to do with consistency. All other base DoL accessories gives only GP. So your main benefit is indeed the reduced durability loss.

pretty sure at least one member of the development team has leveled fishing. that being said i'd gamble it is foresight rather than oversight. I've read the 2.2 notes, nothing in there to get my hopes up, but this game has more players than ffxi, and that's been running for 10 years, be patient.

So from looking at the stats on xivdb.. the forager is better than the luminary and if that is so.. complete bs. I just really loathe how Yoshi has treated dol and fishing in particular. This big fish is nothing.. it's all worthless achievements and I just wasted a massive amount of time on my luminary. fu

As I said before, I don't think the achievement rewards are really meant to always be the best item forever and ever. There are plenty of other achievement rewards, some which may take even more time/effort than a luminary, which are simple vanity rewards.
