FFXIV Player Event during Olympics... PVP, raiding, etc.

Oh, I know everyone is going to groan at this. I thought since the Olympics are coming up in awhile (if everything would be, unless that Zika virus destroys the event with people worrying), I thought that all of us players on every world server should hold PVP sessions during the time of the Olympics. Knowing that the Olympics in the real world is a competition of endurance, strength, agility, mobility, and so forth, having a week or 2 of a community driven event of PVP on FFXIV would be good for both old and newer players.

Why? NO ONE does them hardly at this time. There's no incentive. So I thought, why wouldn't us players benefit by doing this for about a week or two so everyone in the game can gain achievements for PVP and getting a taste of competition. Like I said, hardly anyone does them. Heck, I'm still stuck on Syrcus Tower because of the abysmal que waiting. Everyone could do PVP, raiding (Crystal Tower, Coil, Alexander, Diadem, Void Ark) and whatnot. It would give us all something to accomplish when the Olympics are here in the real world, and on the game we can all compete against each other or help one another.

The english data centres often have player-driven events on Fridays.

I never knew about that site. I was just bringing the attention to this forum as to a "why not?" kind of event. You know, we players could actually just help everyone out by doing this PVP and raiding during a 2 week time frame so people can get achievements, get glamour, and also progress in the storylines if they have not done so.

Yep, Friday Night Fights they're called. They start around 9:00 pm and its mostly Wolves Den runs (synched, aka yellow box on the side). There's also seize players too during that time. When you mentioned olympics though I was thinking something like some players would wear specific glamoured shirts and run around doing interesting tasks involving platforming, enemy killing (like kill more within the alloted time or something) or sprint around eorzea as a naked gatherer class till you make a full circle, or to a certain point, idk. That'd be pretty sweet X)

I wouldn't mind a tower raid event though or the other stuff you mentioned. Incentives to do stuff is always nice, especially in this game :/

Currently it's Wolves' Den matched synced parties Fridays starting at 8pm EST. Occasionally there are pops for Secure on Saturdays at the same time, though I haven't seen them last more than an hour or so. Sunday evenings I've gotten pops for Crystal Tower, too.

I'd love to see more interest in PVP, especially older modes like Wolves' Den, but we have enough people who only have a passing interest in solo achievements as it is, with one player on my GC openly ignoring everyone else, mouthing off, and screwing around to get the one for nodes. The existing PVP events work because they have many people who love it for what it is.

That said, I'd be happy to see Slaughter resurface for at least a little while as many haven't had a chance to even try it out. A celebration is always welcome.
