Last week, I signed up for Wanderer's Palace and got a WHM who only ever cast two spells: Stone II and Cure III. Each pull, he would run in before me (the tank) and cast Stone II until I was at about 25% health, then spam Cure III until he ran out of mp. Sometimes we'd manage to kill the pack of mobs, but usually we'd only kill one or two and then wipe. We suggested he use Cure I a bit more to conserve mp, but I'm not sure he could understand us as he didn't change his patterns and never spoke at all. Naturally, I died during the Goobue boss, but since we had a BRD he was able to kite-tank the boss for a while. All the while, the WHM was chasing the Goobue around casting Stone II while we pleaded with him to Raise me. Shockingly, eventually he did Raise me (the one and only time he cast a spell other than Stone II or Cure III).

After the kill, the BRD initiated run abandonment, and I didn't have it in me to disagree.

An examination of the WHM revealed that he was wearing mostly Darklight Caster equipment, though some of his accessories were Darklight Aiming gear of all things. We offered suggestions on what gear might be more appropriate, but were still met with stony silence.

There are bad people out there... But honestly, this was the first and only player that I felt was bad enough to make any kind of fuss about. Most of the people I play with are at the very least competent, so I'm not too worried about the state of the game as a whole.

I had this with Bahamut I, never been there no clues,I got some slime on me and was moving about and around so we wiped...I stated I had never done it before so no clues what to happen, for ONCE I have to admit I got a nice group, we wiped once, they saw I raelly had no clues and the leader told to not care of anything but him, just avoid the lighting plateforms and that is it not even bother about slimes, someone would take care of it....I passed without a single problem no death no headache, was just a matter of telling me...and overall was easy even I thought it more hard....talking is important very important ! most tent to believe themselves superior unfortunately....is how it is...and for my part it doesnt affect me much

I don't mind failing. I just re-queue or play with players I know that can play their role.

I admit it that it can be taxing. This is a game with team objectives. We have to communicate to inexperienced people to make things happen. A static is probably better to avoid these problems. However, I think good players should be leaders.

And you don't see the "problem" here? Not a problem to someone like me, I just play with people I know are good. But you get the people on the other side complaining the good players set strict rules, won't teach, etc. It has to be a two way street, these people NEED to put in SOME work on their part if they want anyone else to constantly be helping. Many people have the "it's just a game" mentality and refuse to do so. As you said it's a team effort, that means ALL people have to be willing to go a little outside of their normal zone.

If that's your way of thinking, don't expect to finish the next roullette you do with three new players.

I wouldn't say bad players is rising, though one thing that saddens me is how toxic the XIV has gotten.
It's got to stage of "if it doesn't affect me,it's not an issue" seen it in so many posts now, and it's just so wrong

Got a new and vastly under geared DPS (lvl45 weapon and AF1) yesterday while doing the Sirius Pharos on roulette.
The other DPS went "fuck you noobs, kick me out" and when we refused he first went "then I'll go AFK" and then trained monsters on us as we were going on the stoopid stubborn marathon (he won, we kicked him out).
We then got some other DPS and we finished the DJ with some troubles (as he was new and had less HP than my fairy) but he was not playing that bad.
Each boss strategy was 1 or 2 minutes max. Dunno why some people got their panties in a bunch over those "bad" player.

I've noticed a lot of bad players recently myself. Went into an AK run with a BRD who didn't use DoTs and a MNK who didn't use positioning. After 3 wipes on Demon Wall (no, I'm not joking, I wish I was), the PAL initiated an abandon duty, which I had to agree with. Later ran another place with a DRG who didn't use his DoTs or Heavy Thrust, and a BLM who didn't Flare at all and continually used Blizzard spells, no fire. How do these people even get to endgame?
