It's common decency, you might ask why should I teach randoms? But there are a lot of people who can't log in at the same time as friends so need to use DF, should these people really never get any help because of RL commitments?

I know let's take this into RL terms, Why are people with various skills alwaysexpected to teach teenagers? Why is a parent expected to teach their kids everything, they go to school for a reason.

This is the STUPIDEST argument ever. People with certain skills teach teenagers because it's their JOB. They are TEACHERS who get PAID. When bads start paying me to teach them how to not derp, I'll be glad to do so.

To the people who say, "Relax and have fun," I say this: You can tell a lot about a person by how much effort they put into everyday tasks, and how much pride they get from doing something the right way. If you want to continue failing at dungeons, refusing to read about encounters, wearing the wrong gear, and playing your class badly, fine. When your laziness and bad attitude find themselves in a group with me, however, I will not hesitate to point it out. If you don't like that, feel free to ruin someone else's group.

And who pays the teachers? Looks like your tax dollars at work. So either you do it or you pay someone else to do it for you. You don't derp all that well. In every case, it helps you in the long run when the people/players are educated and are able to contribute.

BTW with a the large influx of inexperienced players, a.k.a. so called bads, showing up, could it be that influx was a contribution of the 50% off sale on steam not that long ago?

Than at the first week of February, Playstation had 50% sale on all Final Fantasy games on PSN. This dropped FFXIV:ARR to 20 bucks regular edition and 30 bucks collectors, I only remember this because 2 days before I brought FFXIV:ARR for 40 bucks on PSN. Did this because I knew the game would be digital no matter what and once you activate the game on your account it is locked there.

They do, it is the duty roulette. They pay substitute teacher pay, i.e. the daily bonus, and you don't have to do it on a permanent basis.

Or would rather SE formalize a teaching guild/FC where players sign up for duty, and have qualifications tests, and obligations to do and be paid out in gil? Shouldn't this be up to the players to form some open world FC to instruct the noobs?

That's incorrect. Duty roulette is to help lowbies not wait hours for a party. The reward is for being put into dungeons that you normally might not participate in (example: how many times did you actually do Satasha after you hit level 16?). It isn't for experienced players to teach them how to play.

For what you said on a teaching guild / fc, that was what the original point of guildhests were; for the game itself to teach you how to obey/follow mechanics. But seeing as how they're all face roll, they didn't/don't actually teach squat. Kill adds as they spawn? Naw, just burn the boss. That's pretty much how most of the guildhests go. Tons of bubbles spawning around the boss that you're supposed to ignore the acid ones? Naw, let's just ignore everything and burn the boss. Good idea, badly implemented.

As far as it being up to the players to form an open world FC to instruct the new players, some already do. But most see those as progression FC's and quickly jump to a new one when they get what they want from it. Another reason people don't like helping newer players. This is a subject that isn't black and white. Anything that involves the personalities and personal skill sets of individual players has too many intangibles. Is the person being a jerk when they ask for help? Are they rejecting any advice you're giving? Do they ignore pleas to follow number marks? Do they give attitude when you say you're too busy to help them at a given time? Or it can be the opposite and they can be super polite.

Personally, if a new person asks for help (I can't count how many titan HM and relic carries I've done with/for strangers), I'm all for it. I just hate when it's expected of me simply because I'm a better geared / more knowledgeable player.

    I totally agree.

You have run sellers that ask for help, then they go charging other players for help. Do you help them?
