for those people that think good players must help bad players,
"Charity, if you have the means, is a personal choice, but charity which is expected or compelled is simply a polite word for slavery.”

compassion isn't always well received, and ppl get angry at you, for trying to control their playstyle, or telling them what to do.
that is, if they even read the chat at all, which usually they dont, since they dont reply, and dont change anything.
and bad players take up 90% of all players, so have fun having compassion/teaching 1mil+ ppl, 1-2 at a time...when they don't listen to anything you say.
ps, instead of trying to get carried, etc, ppl can...you know...do a little research, so they kind of know what to expect, before trying something new, or make a learning pt.
or you know, they can say from the start: hi i'm new, so let me know, if there's something special going on.
ppl have more patience, if you're honest, and making an effort, rather than just derp around and ignoring everyone else.
My apologies...
Maybe you played with me...
You're a rage quitter? Screw off then. You're an equally bad plague as terrible players. At least with them there's a possibility they'll get better. Your elitism, however, will not. It's a game. Don't get pissed that not everyone dedicates their lives to being the best in the game.
Maybe its a result of my love of games like MTG, Warhammer and Battletech. I've always enjoyed teaching newer players how to play the game so they might enjoy it also.
Maybe you'll never run into the same people twice in the DF, But maybe, just maybe, the player i helped will go on to teach other new players. Which causes a nice upward trend of players willing to take the time to coach newer players, increasing the player retention rate and growing the community.
Oh, nevermind, none of that matters to you and your 8 man Coilfarmstatic. Continue to look down your nose at the newer players and treat em like scum for not researching every little thing about every facet of the game before logging in and making a character. We didn't need the extra players in our Servers anyway.
Bloody newbs. Always ruining a perfectly good elite run.
It's common decency, you might ask why should I teach randoms? But there are a lot of people who can't log in at the same time as friends so need to use DF, should these people really never get any help because of RL commitments?
I know let's take this into RL terms, Why are people with various skills alwaysexpected to teach teenagers? Why is a parent expected to teach their kids everything, they go to school for a reason.
This is the STUPIDEST argument ever. People with certain skills teach teenagers because it's their JOB. They are TEACHERS who get PAID. When bads start paying me to teach them how to not derp, I'll be glad to do so.
To the people who say, "Relax and have fun," I say this: You can tell a lot about a person by how much effort they put into everyday tasks, and how much pride they get from doing something the right way. If you want to continue failing at dungeons, refusing to read about encounters, wearing the wrong gear, and playing your class badly, fine. When your laziness and bad attitude find themselves in a group with me, however, I will not hesitate to point it out. If you don't like that, feel free to ruin someone else's group.
And who pays the teachers? Looks like your tax dollars at work. So either you do it or you pay someone else to do it for you. You don't derp all that well. In every case, it helps you in the long run when the people/players are educated and are able to contribute.
BTW with a the large influx of inexperienced players, a.k.a. so called bads, showing up, could it be that influx was a contribution of the 50% off sale on steam not that long ago?
Than at the first week of February, Playstation had 50% sale on all Final Fantasy games on PSN. This dropped FFXIV:ARR to 20 bucks regular edition and 30 bucks collectors, I only remember this because 2 days before I brought FFXIV:ARR for 40 bucks on PSN. Did this because I knew the game would be digital no matter what and once you activate the game on your account it is locked there. And who pays the teachers? Looks like your tax dollars at work.
