Might honestly just be Crystal Towers.

I know half the people in my guild just screw around in there or go on jobs they never played at endgame before.

For alot of people Crystal towers is just too casual to be taken seriously. More wipes in there with my FC then we have in Coil due to people screwing around. Just watch more time then not it is the people with allegan weapon dying to stuff not the people wearing garudas or Ifrit weapons.

Maybe its a result of my love of games like MTG, Warhammer and Battletech. I've always enjoyed teaching newer players how to play the game so they might enjoy it also.

Maybe you'll never run into the same people twice in the DF, But maybe, just maybe, the player i helped will go on to teach other new players. Which causes a nice upward trend of players willing to take the time to coach newer players, increasing the player retention rate and growing the community.

Oh, nevermind, none of that matters to you and your 8 man Coilfarmstatic. Continue to look down your nose at the newer players and treat em like scum for not researching every little thing about every facet of the game before logging in and making a character. We didn't need the extra players in our Servers anyway.
Bloody newbs. Always ruining a perfectly good elite run.

It's common decency, you might ask why should I teach randoms? But there are a lot of people who can't log in at the same time as friends so need to use DF, should these people really never get any help because of RL commitments?

I know let's take this into RL terms, Why are people with various skills alwaysexpected to teach teenagers? Why is a parent expected to teach their kids everything, they go to school for a reason.

I have compassion for people who struggle but still ask questions, try their hardest, and look up information on the internet.
I have no compassion for the guy not saying anything, is playing horribly, and holds back the rest of the group.
If I die in any game, first thing I do is check logs to see what killed me. If nothing is there, I ask my group.
No answer? Well its not like every game in existence doesn't have some sort of online community for discussion/FAQs/Guides.
I haven't played a video game in which I am the only one who has experienced an issue and there has been no answer for it online.

Yeah apparently you're not enjoying the game if you actually put in "work" to become a better player.

I have compassion for players that put effort into things or are super nice if they know they aren't that good but I don't think it should be expected that good players help bad ones. You'll get taken advantage by players that are lazy and looking for a carry.

    I agree Kiliek!

Wait, so teaching players is carrying them?

    The more you know!

    Nice yes, but obligated? No.

Believe it or not I'm a helpful guy with a good reputation. Like 200+ of those commendations thingies. I just don't like how players make it sound like you should help everyone like it's obligatory. You get taken advantage of that way, I'm more selective in who I help and when to give it.

I never looked at it that way. That would explain why I am seeing so many bad players recently.
