Wanna know what I find incredibly funny?

"I refuse to watch videos, read guides, or ask for help because I want to learn things for myself and feel accomplished".

but those same exact people also say:

"WTF you elitist why won't you help me? It is your duty to teach new players! Stop telling me to learn for myself!".

The vast majority of the playerbase is more than capable of learning for themselves (and says that they want to) but the second you suggest that they actually do that they lose their minds.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why so many players don't care to teach anyone because it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

That WHM is clearly new and you rage quit? The community is only as strong as every individual. If one is nice and welcoming others will follow suit slowly.

I get it re running the same thing etc is boring. But that doesn't mean you gotta kill the fun for others. Tanks rage quitting usually equates to the entire party leaving and the dps is gonna suffer another long q.

Why is it that good players are always expected to teach bad players?

not really, but it is a good thing to do if you dont want to be wipe over and over or another option is just leave the instance

but if you help a newb today, some other will help you again another time or in another mmorpg when you are the newb

Two days ago I ran into a drg that died so much her armor broke in CM.

Given how slow the gear damage rate in instances is, by SE's own design, I find this hard to believe unless her gear was borderline broken to begin with.

Just what the point of your post? Threads like this are simply places where the 'pros' come to deride the 'badz' and preen themselves for their 'proness', these threads achieve nothing.

I don't know about bad playing, but I've noticed people more often on the Duty Finder having sub-par gear.

It's called compassion. Some players have it; others don't.

compassion isn't always well received, and ppl get angry at you, for trying to control their playstyle, or telling them what to do.
that is, if they even read the chat at all, which usually they dont, since they dont reply, and dont change anything.
and bad players take up 90% of all players, so have fun having compassion/teaching 1mil+ ppl, 1-2 at a time...when they don't listen to anything you say.

ps, instead of trying to get carried, etc, ppl can...you know...do a little research, so they kind of know what to expect, before trying something new, or make a learning pt.
or you know, they can say from the start: hi i'm new, so let me know, if there's something special going on.
ppl have more patience, if you're honest, and making an effort, rather than just derp around and ignoring everyone else.
