    Weather Effects Toggle

When I play XIV, and either rain begins to fall or dust begins to stir, I notice my FPS drop considerably, close to half of what it was. For this reason, I would really like to see a toggle implemented to allow weather effects to be turned on and off.

I would like this as well, I know already heard before on my post with same subject that this game is meant to have it... yeah FFXI had it too and we could turn it on/off... I want to turn it OFF sometime!

Yes, please. I'd very much like to be able to toggle weather effects in game.

Spoke with Yoshida about current lack of a weather effect toggle. Currently, there really isn’t any meaning to the weather that occurs randomly within the realm of Eorzea, however, in the future plan on making weather a much more meaningful event and as such do not plan on implementing a toggle.

I see, well if it's going to have meaningful event that goes with it then it makes sense I guess + we have the mini-map so doesn't really matter I guess for most people, still can run around with the heavy sand storm outside of uldah sometimes.

    Off Topic:
Do you know if the devs have any plans to make the game in low quality mode for current FFXI player that can't play FFXIV due to the specs required for the PC? Just wondering both mine and wifes one are OK since we basically built this whole PC up for FFXIV lol but if in future they are planning to get lots of players back I would think adding a low quality version would make those happy for the time being until they get new pc, graphics card etc.

You don't need the weather toggled on to know what conditions there are in the field. Just look at the weather icon. Excuse me for being blunt, but are you sure you got the right message to him? It sounds like he's answering a different question. This is more of a graphical issue for low spec systems. It has nothing to do with removing the graphical weather effects altogether.

Can we get weather added into cities in the future as well then? It doesn't make sense that it's pouring in Thanalan and then when you go into Ul'dah the rain has suddenly stopped. Is there a reason for this?

improve the engine would be a better way (And as far as i know they are doin it... well they have to to reach more people as well). And giving more meaningful graphic options would do as well. So far we have some options but most don't have a big effect on fps. ONLY when you change the drawing qualitiy... but its not like other games who have less details on textures... so the game can still look good and sharp... in ffxiv you have the option, look good, or look bad as hell and still use a lot of resources...

Optimizing these effects so they require less resources would be far preferable to having to turn them off.

You just don't like the answer.
