The community has given SE many ideas, as if the current market didn't already have solid countermeasures already. SE is just stubborn in there ways, or overly cautious, and is making adjustments either agonizingly slow, or sticking with there current methods. To be honest, I'm sure one of the first addons we will see when the API is released might be a chat spam filter :P Wouldn't be hard to implimment as it could already be done with a 3rd party app already given some knowledge of programming and regex.
