A toxic community, bad code test practices and forced limitations may cause a person to leave. The reasons to play are limited in favor of increasing the duration for which I am subscribing. SE is demonstrating great marketing to attract new subs, offering rewards to prepay however is lacking retention, in my as well as many other player's opinions.

It is bad form to imply 'good' opinions as the majority and 'bad' opinions as the one rare person. A player poll would really help, but then again we haven't seen one of those in a while, and the results from the last few were ignored, so hmm.

I keep seeing "many other player's opinions" all over the place. I still haven't seen an accurate number (even if a ballpark figure) of players. I'm not sure it's as high as people seem to believe. If you go by this forum, you'd think that because there are a lot of "bad opinions" that the game is struggling to keep people interested. That's bad form, too. I happen to know plenty of people who I see logging in every day, finding something to do that interests them.

You'd have to run a player poll in game, as they logged in. Doing it on here, or on reddit, or on any other forum isn't a good way to get a fair picture of the situation.

But I happen to enjoy the game and it's direction. Every day I can plan out my goals, and within reasonable time, I can usually achieve it or at least have made some progress. But then, I don't care about maxing out my myth every week or making sure I've done all 5 turns on Monday. Of course, some days I may not log in at all. Not because I'm bored/nothing to do, but simply because I have other things to do in my life which occasionally includes an early night.

While you may think that SE is lacking retention to prepay in long term customers, what I see could not be further from the truth. An amazing subscription package for legacy players, ability to transfer characters from 1.0, veteran rewards for players, these are all perks that reward long term players. I played "filthy casual Wow" for 5 years and aside from 6 month bulk discount (which FFXiV also has btw), you have nothing else to entice existing players to resubscribe.

Please point out where did I state that my opinion constitutes as the majority and that yours as the minority? I'm just stating my observations based on the fact that the population on my server has remained fairly stable and that for every person that leaves in my fc, usually one joins to take its place. So I would kindly ask you not to put words into my mouth. Thank you.

These are things which reward the people who stuck around hoping for an improved FFXIV. They are by no means an effective retention policy. Lower sub cost is the only good thing, but people are leaving because even $10/month for a game you either don't play or don't want to play is a bad deal.

You refer to a negative opinion as 'just mine', when there are countless threads with complaints.

So as I said: The game has issues but many will overlook them.

Again, stop trying to pull wool over people's eyes. The "just" in "just your" has a meaning solely to "solely your", aka it does not refer to everybody. Please go back and attend semantics 101 if you still cannot understand this.

And I make no apologies for this one. Go read again what that poster said. No single player or group or players should be bigger than a company, less hold it hostage. If they can do it once, they can do it again. They are a detriment to the longevity and success of any business

Technical issues, bugs, server problems, arbitrary problems yes. Subjective personal opinions (i.e. direction the game is heading) not necessarily. And I and many others who share this view did not say that the game has no problems. That's just a straw man argument. Try reading some of my other posts for suggestions for a more open world. I just do so in a more constructive manner.

you tell people to not put words in your mouth then continuously put words into mine. if you actually READ my posts in regards to content you would see I want content for everyone not just 1 specific group while all your posts are saying I am demanding content for only 1 group. Do you actually read my posts or just skim them looking for certain key words you want and then base an argument on that. no game is perfect, there is always room to improve and that is why giving real feedback is important not this everything's A-OK as you walk around with blinders on.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many "open world" threads on but there are no replies at all from the community managers and SE staff? Cause even all the most well intentioned thread soon degrades into people slinging mud at each other and all the good ideas are lost inside. So if you want your ideas your ideas to be heard, then either present them systematically or even better, there is a feedback and suggestion forum for that exact purpose.

The feedback forum is for website feedback and localization not for game feedback =P

and I am getting agitated because you are telling people to read my posts in a way that makes it sound like a plague.
