I think one of the problems is no penalty for using AOE, they should make AOE spells use twice as much MP as single target spells.

I agree the old system was kinda cool, but it was also kind of inconsistent in its returns too. It boiled down to a lot of skill spam at times and not a lot else. Parties were easier to get then too though, yeah, because more people were playing at the time and there was a lot larger of an incentive to it than there admittedly is now. At the time, you could get a pretty large party going and rake in the SP.. Nowadays, yeah, you can solo to 20 fairly quickly on your own. (Though I still feel partying is much faster post-20 in terms of leveling..)Before sp was sorta random but you had TONS of grind parties at all levels. I remember grinding on crabs and nannys all the time... it was FUN. It's just that the game isn't like that anymore since you can solo all the way to r20 by yourself and behest in 3 hours. YES I have done that on a couple new characters just to mess around. And idk if the grind parties are gone bcuz of sp now or the lack of in-game people
They do need to add more options to make partying better, I don't deny that at all.
I agree with Balbanes MP regen is way easy... MP should not be regenerating as quickly as it is... Needs more balance period.Uh, you don't need to stand perfectly still to auto regen... I don't know where you're getting that.
It took me 1:44 to regenerate 860 MP from nothing. This is without having to sit or rest in any manner like in XI. That is far too high a regen for MP.
As I said, mages already have plenty of tools to easily manage their MP. Melees w/o Siphon MP could use a boost, yes, but what we have is just plain easy mode.
Don't know if your being sarcastic but I just feel AOE is way to over powered currently. In party situations people don't manage enmity correctly and just spam everything because they know if they stand next to the tank and pull hate they will get cured. I think if they made AOE cost twice as much and maybe increase cast time to it would help a lot.

Never played tactics but it just seemed like to me this was the obvious solution short of switching spells like cure, fire, protect to single target and making cura, fira, protectra and so on AOE but then your action bar would not have enough space.
Meh, to some point its much, but with future updates they could make it so it is needed for a new influx of mobs.
Disagree. Anything that gets us away from having to need one or two classes to only handle MP regen is a good thing in my book.
Besides, MP cost for more powerful magic and such can easily outpace regen rate.
