EDIT:: As I'm getting a lot of this, I want to put this up here. This is NOT a "Viera confirmed" thread. This is merely for speculation and what conclusions can be made when making observations from the current content trailer, promo/concept art (past and present) and then comparing them to the new art and how one character in particular fits in with, or in this case DOES NOT fit in with the norm that is present in some slight variation throughout the rest of the art. This is pure SPECULATION, so don't treat it like a "It's a Miqo'te, get over it" answer thread, and please try to at least provide some reasoning with your answers to help fuel speculation for or against.

SO, I'm going to flat out start this with a possibility of "I may be reading too far into this" but after having shown it to multiple people and having come to the same conclusion without me saying anything that would hint at it, I feel that I should post this to see what other, random people, think.

In the new promo art, yeah yeah dagger I get it, but there was something else that... well... seemed to be flying under a lot of people's radars. I looked 20 pages back and couldn't find anything about this, so, here it is:




As you can see, this is a cropped image of the promo art for 2.2. Now, notice something odd about the Paladin that I focused the cropping around? Look at her ears, her legs and her waist.

1. Those ears are not like the Miqo'te that is also in the art, in fact, the base is quite a bit slimmer than any Miqo'te in the game.

2. Her legs are LONG. In fact, she's by far taller than any of the Miqo'te in the game just going by the proportions show to us in the art.

3. Where is her tail? If she was a Miqo'te we'd be seeing part of it at least as her waist is clearly visible, even with the water right behind her.

Now, I'm not saying "viera" but I'm saying that is definitely not Miqo'te. So, unless her hyur ears are VERY well hidden, something is fishy. It could be a headband, but when AT LEAST 5 of the 8 characters shown are not wearing any visible head equipment, an eared headband is very out of place.

Her overall build is far too different from Miqo'te, and even her face style varies from the normal Miqo'te in the art. We all know Square is known to reveal things in art beforehand, so while, again, I'm not saying this is "Viera confirmed" Yugiri and this art lean towards it.

Also, I realize people think that Yugiri is wearing a horned hood that was from Dhoma in the other games... well, that hood only had 1 horn, and as we could see from the 2.2 trailer, her hood has two. Also... there's the potential of them being ears and I say that because playing as a Miqo'te, some of the hats shove our ears uncomfortably down our head.

ANYWAYS, thought complete, feel free to voice your opinion/observations. That's what this is for anyways, speculation

Art is art for a reason. It's artistic and left open for interpretation.

I'm not saying it's a Viera (or perhaps whatever term SE decided to call it for XIV) until Viera are shown in the game so that we can then compare and be certain.

I actually thought the same thing, then after more deliberation I came to the conclusion it's most likely a Miqo'te (Even if the ears seem a little farther back), it's a rather odd looking Miqo'te at that. (But with a new 2.2 hairstyle it seems)


The purple hooded figure had their ears much further down.

But if that isn't a Miqo'te then boy do they look similar...I was hoping for something completely different than what we had now.

Art is art for a reason. It's artistic and left open for interpretation.

I'm not saying it's a Viera (or perhaps whatever term SE decided to call it for XIV) until Viera are shown in the game so that we can then compare and be certain.

I'm not saying it is either, but comparing with what I can (past promo art, and overall characteristics of the design) I feel safe in assuming that it is not a Miqo'te, or a very oddly designed one.

Well, again, that's art as well. It may look similar in the promo but be vastly different in game. But again, I feel confident saying that it's not a Miqo'te, it just looks way too different when compared to the other designs of Miqo'te in promo art. The lack of any visible tail doesn't help either.

But I'm gonna keep this one alive as long as I can. For me, it's not just the ears (I don't care if they're rabbit ears or not :P) it's about the overall design of the character, it is an oddly designed Miqo'te for the promo art, if it is a Miqo'te at all. No tail, really long legs, no marking on the face and the face has an overall different appearance, the ears are different design (the base is smaller and the way they're blowing back assists in that observation due to the fact that it would be impossible for that exact kind of angle with the wide based Miqo'te ears). It just doesn't make sense to be a Miqo'te.

Well, it does kind of look like a Elezen-Miqote mix... Mixed races confirmed?

That's possible as well. I'm interested in seeing if anything big like this is revealed in the "Miscellaneous Announcements" section in the next live letter. Though, I would think even with a mix of Elezen and Miqo'te that the tail would still be around if she kept the ears, but that's just my thoughts on it.
