Think about what kind of system you'd want to use when they raise the level cap. Do you really want the game to still be "watch movies and enter-spam" when you need to rank up again?

I can also understand the desire to keep high rank crafting as "exclusive" as possible to avoid saturating the supply side of the market. Unfortunately, that's futile because we both know craft bots aren't going away, and they'll still be there lowering the value of everything we make.

Lastly, I strongly believe there are ways to remove tedium from craft grinding without trivializing crafting as a whole. For example, requiring rare material at high ranks would keep high rank crafting difficult to attain even if you could do the synths automatically (think Goldsmithing).
as much of a grind the current system is
there really is no compromise to it without making all the work everyones done on it completely worthles, and we know thats something SE isnt gonna do
the grind is pretty bad in the end BUT if it wasnt for the fact that there are no other recipes you could switch up to in order to increase sp....thats the main problem to finish them as is
at 500 sp a synth, you get roughly 25k an hour
thats 4 hours per rank at 100k sp, which wouldnt be bad at all BUT 50 is the highest recipe and will give no more then 300 or so tops at 49

my suggestion to make the final grinds less painful is to add recipes ABOVE the rank cap, thisl lessen the final grind, AND add a hard synth you can still do at the cap thatl be worthwhile and valuable perhaps?

automated crafting is a bad idea no matter how you look at it as a method of ranking up
there is however a compromise, i wouldnt mind seeing automated crafting on recipes that you are too high to get SP on anymore, as a means to speed through getting low materials ready

Still always out for your own interests I see. SE can do whatever they see right for their crafting system even if it means that the people who wanted to put themselves through their horrid crafting system went through it for nothing. They did say they were going to change it, even said to make it easier although I wish they would have said funner and less mind-numbing rather than "easier".

they said they were going to work on it

they didnt say they were gonna destroy it

theres a HUGE difference, easier doesnt nesisarily mean automated, hell, im 100% sure it doesnt mean automated leveling with crafting

as for funner, i have yet to see anyone ever suggest what funner means, they just want it funner, lets face facts, this crafting system is the same as every other games out there, the only difference is you gotta spend more time on it.

No it isn't, you just don't read posts. This is the only game that teaches you how to craft everything automatically by doing nothing to earn it.

im sorry, it doesnt exist, its always "lick a button and watch it get made" or so on and so forth....well unless you count puzzle pirates, but thats a game of mini games so it doesnt count
I am 100% for a game feature where I lick a button to make something.

That aside: Reducing the amount of presses might help. Make it less than what we need to do now, or at least just vary the number of choices that need to be made based on item complexity.

A system that can't be gamed by the [ahem] less scrupulous players amongst us would be nice. Maybe make it so the inputs chance of success is determined by the colored orbs in the game, abilities you choose to use, and what you end up choosing per option. The end result is an item with some special effect on it you don't get by mashing the standard option like a brainless robot. (If need be resort to the 'Adjective Noun' system for differentiating the items generated this way so we know a 'Burning Velvet Doublet' gives fire resist and a 'Silky Smooth Velvet Doublet' gives a bonus to your fabulousness)

Some luck mixed with the level of your character and the choices you make during the craft shift the end result of the adjective(s) on the item. Do you try to force all standard for stronger armor? Do you mix rapid and standard for less split ends on your fur coat?

What does it end up doing? I don't care. Give us something better than what we got right now. The DoH classes are meant to be worthy of being an actual class so it'd be great if they live up to that.

Just a reminder, aside from the absurd fact that inflicting terrible unwarranted abuse on your enter key to rank 50 is accepted and considered fun by a vocal minority (they must absolutely love that web game "push the button), most people enjoy fun with their games and keyboard wear and tear spread out amongst the 155+ other keys.

I also like sunsets, long walks on the beach and dogs.

Those weak-willed botters will bot no matter how "fun" something is. The only thing auto-crafter does is to sanction the use of bots.

Where is the fun in... "Logging in, buy materials for a thousand synths, click enter, go to bed, wake up to see 20 level gain"? (Look at Aion...) There is a pretty good reason the bots in Aion focus on material farming instead.

That said, I am all for something to make crafting more fun. Auto-crafter unfortunately just doesn't cut it as a solution.

All I know is, from what i've seen so far, nothing in this game is particularly enjoyable. I bought this because it's kinda f2p with no monthly charge, so i thought why not give it a try. But it's like... There's nothing to do LOL! I did all my leve quests in like an hour, finished my starting quests... then it's like... ok 8 more hours before i can do 8 more quests. Everything is so complicated I would have quit in 5 seconds had it not been for google. Oh and you can't alt+tab out of full screen? Is this a joke?? >:\

But yea, crafting is less than enjoyable...

I made a thread proposing an idea that could work as a compromise:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...nthesis-Option

I would appreciate any and all input.

ive commented on something similar several times, and you are being too generous to the people who want easy street with your idea

auto crafting is a very very bad idea unless the item is extremely under your level(as in you get 0 sp for it)
