    Enter Spamming (crafting)

hello all, I'd like to point out a few things that I would like to address as most crafters have noticed, crafting in XIV isn't enjoyable. it's crucially painful, in 11 i had several 100+ crafts (multiple character's). I find myself having to turn on a movie and spamming my enter button, this is a game. and in so crafting should be more "lenient" even for casual gamers. This system doesn't make that possible. I would like to suggest adding a feature that is unique to WoW, having multiple mats setting the number of syntheses u want preformed then executing said task's. in 11, crafting wasn't as fun but it was bearable. This is excruciatingly painful and it makes me want to pull my hair out, much less not log in. Just a few things I wanted to share before I get to the point I do not want to continue logging in.I understand game play in the leveling has to come first I see that as more important , but nothing I've seen has mentioned any changes to the crafting system and if there has been I'd love to be redirected to said post/reply from the devs

hitting enter for standard multiple times isnt any different then what most other games do
    the difference is this

    1) some games have it to where you just plain always succeed(warcraft)
    2) some games its hit or miss(ffxi)
    3) in this game, you pretty much have ALOT more control over the hit and miss factor as long as the recipe isnt too high

we dont need an auto crafter, people need to stop suggesting this

The problem is, this is meant to be an enjoyable, game can u seriously sit here and tell me u ENJOY logging in and crafting w/the system that is implemented now? I'm going to say it's bull cause there are many more people that feel the EXACT same way I do, SE remember this is a game, not a job {please} If u want it to feel like a Job I'd love for you to send me a check, in short, wait u plan to have people pay for this? That is a joke. IT ""Isn't"" """"" Enjoyable""""

Check out the dev tracker, it's been mentioned a few times on the boards in several threads that crafting is being addressed next with a revision of recipes and materials (bloody hells yes!) I think somewhere in 1.19 patch?

I don't think they will HOW you craft though and I personally like the system, I still put on netflix...

name a game where crafting is truely made enjoyable

im sorry, it doesnt exist, its always "lick a button and watch it get made" or so on and so forth....well unless you count puzzle pirates, but thats a game of mini games so it doesnt count

so you cant make it more enjoyable without pretty much adding something like some dumb bejeweled game as tyhe mini game, which im sure people dont really want

I actually agree with the OP to a certain extent. I'm currently leveling two consecutive crafts and they really just aren't fun. I'm doing them because I'm being indirectly forced to.

The way I see it, the fact that it isn't fun in other games should be even more reason to try to make it fun in this one. I don't think there should be an "auto-craft" system though. And it definitely shouldn't play like bejeweled. But I feel it should be "mini-game like", in the sense that it could be short, enjoyable, and addictive. Different items can play out like different little "stages" or levels. There really is a lot of potential here.

I'm at the point where I'd gladly take auto-crafting if they absolutely can't figure out how to make current crafting system more enjoyable. I'm not a hard-core crafter; I did want to get deep into it though, but I was completely put off by the enter/confirm button spam, which is, dare I say, as ridiculous as the afk-crafting.
The crafting in XIV really is more interesting than in other MMOs, with a disclaimer that it works for casual crafters, and that statement I'm willing to defend. Watching a film while you grind it is not how you should ""play"" the game (double quotations intentional). That's why the afk-crafting, as in other MMOs was invented, to make it more user-friendly on your own time, and that's why people are asking for it. Cause they don't want to be forcefully sitting infront of their screens doing something really boring while doing yet something else they really don't want to do either, like watch a film.

Frankly, right now it seems like the battle between people who worked hard through a tedious crafting grind to get their crafts to R50, that don't want their hard work be devalued by an easy-mode and the ones not willing to put up with it (who seem to be in majority).

I'd like to see improvements to the existing system. Not a completely dumbed down version (complete auto-craft) but not as slow and sleep invoking as it is. I'd dare to say the crafting system is ok as we have it now if the damn animations weren't so slow (and so many), and if we could continue crafting, while grinding, like we can during our local leves (just select 'yes' to continue if we have enough mats). The recipes (number of mats needed) and their ranks are not bothering me at all. It's the slow slow ZZZ-worthy grind which I compare to grinding levels in some god-awful f2p Korean MMOs I've played (as in, past tense).

I'd like to get more input from the serious crafters out there, who have multiple crafts at R50. Just curious if they grinded those while semi-afk (watching the TV, reading a book or something) or did they actually watch the game screen through all the grind. If the latter option's the case, I'd like to know if they can really claim they've genuinely enjoyed it. And I don't mean do they enjoy it now when they have them all at R50, not that kind of satisfaction. I want to know about the process of getting there. And, if they themselves, having experienced it all, would like to see improvements and what kind of improvements, if any.

I don't want to see crafting automated, but I have to agree that the crafting game isn't living up to it's potential. I don't think it's the game itself so much as it really doesn't matter how well you do on the craft.

When I started, I was trying to get the highest quality I could, and that was fun. Until I realized it didn't matter (in the case of leves) because the rewards for getting higher numbers isn't really worth the attention to do better. I get a little more money, more shards. I have a ton of that. Maybe when the market balances out, those will be in less supply, and more valuable. (Money being valuable, thats funny. )

For crafting my own things, of course I pay attention more, and it's more enjoyable, because I'm holding my breathe for that +1/2/3 product. But of course, it appears they will be taking +1/2/3 out of the game except for armor.

I don't think they ever said they are removing HQ except for armor. They have removed some of the +1,+2 items from mob drops to help with inventory space, but this was never a solid adjustment just a temporary fix. I have never read anywhere what you claim.
