Turns out you make more money by actually crafting and selling stuff than you do by whining on the forums that you have to deal with competition and can't sell items for 1 mil a piece.
Did you misinterpret my sarcasm? Yeah I am the one that wants competition. If the OP got his wish and only people with luminaries or people with houses could craft any of the new stuff there wouldn't be hardly any competition and you would see prices in the millions for any of the new crafted gear. How would that be fair to anyone? The rich get richer and everyone else has to deal with it. No one wants high prices except the people that are making the stuff.

They could....get a luminary weapon themselves? It's not even THAT time consuming, quick synth something to 99, go read or watch TV, come back, repair gear, buy mats, do it again. I finished mine after a couple of weeks of actually trying. They should mean something, if only 'better than level 50 quest reward'.

Did you just kinda say.... They're easy to get so they should mean something? I'm all for them having purpose, but getting them is not even remotely worth any kind of extra power. If they are supposed to be worth something, they need to go back to hard-to-get status.

So you need to be rich to have that tool? fuck so me being poor "400k" and having 5 of them tools makes me rich o.o cool! and here i was think rich was having 800M to buy the L-House! You ppl must be MAGE RICH!

All i see is you being to laz to go farm and speed craft your why to that tool O.o it not hard Log in>farm>Speed Craft for each craft at 50 o.o It's call a goal! You work to get there.

The why your talking it like your saying "So you need to buy a lv50 or your lockout till you hit lv50" There one thing this game is missing.. and that GOALS that are not ENDGAME PvE. We need more endgame for Crafting/Farming something to work to that you can say 'Hey i can do that for you" Right now EVERYONE can DO it. there not one craft in this game that someone CANT do. We need something that takes work to get.

The cost of some mats on some servers is stupid high and I am in a server with low prices. Lets take weaver for example to speed craft anything from 41-50 you would choose undyded felt as it's the only thing that will even come close to worth to speed craft as everything else is going to cost more and sell back for almost nothing. Unfortunately making undyed felt takes snurble tufts and fleece both that you need to kill some enemies with not something you can just chop down. So it would take a ridiculous long time to get these mats. So adding in shard usage(450 and lighting shards are 30+ here) and material usage just from the board it costs 57383 gil just to make 99 undyed felt. But wait I need 3000 so I need to do this 30 more times so thats 1,721,490 gil just to get one of the achievements for one crafting class. I can sell them back at about 450 a pop plus market board cut I am looking at only making back around 1 mil back. Yeah I have neither the overhead to start such an endever for this achivement nor would I throw away money like that.

So some peoples options are be rich and throw money down the drain for a luminary. Or have absolutely no life and farm snurbles in the burning wall(and chop down 13k+ shards) for hours on end. Sorry both of these are horrible ideas.

If you want luminaries to be useful make them not a grind and moneysink to get and something you actually would have to be good at to acquire. Otherwise just leave them as vanity.

Edit: I didn't add in repair costs and market board tax when doing this either so it would be more then 1.7mil.

While I do not agree with the OPs idea... I believe you can make more of that money back by spirit bonding as you grind =)

Fair enough but you would also have to factor in buying or making the spirtbonding gear and then get lucky not to get stuck with craftmanship +5 materia which only go for around 3k here. More overhead to try to make back some money but nothing guaranteed in the long run.

I just shudder to think what the prices on some servers are for this stuff as a few friends transferred to Behemoth from Midgarssormar and one commented on how cheap all the materia here is at almost half what it was there.

I think it would be kind of neat for Master Craft recipes to require more than one DoH class at level 50. Like say weaver and leatherworker or goldsmith and armorer.
