there was something similar to this in everquest 2 after you got to a certain level on your character in gathering or crafting you would be able to do a quest and send out a packmule or goblin pet to gather materials for you. At the beginning at lower level could only send it out like once a day and later on you could then send it out every 4 hours or something like that.
