Like FFXI has. I loved some of the fun NMs there were to find/kill/collect odd or random item. Some useful, some just to show you got it.. Where are my lovely NMs to hunt?

NMs are still in the game - they're just FATEs now and cannot be sole-claimed (not to mention they don't drop anything really, other than some of the real strong ones, like Cancer, dropping Allagan currency or minions).
The reason for the change is simple - 1.0 players were asked whether we still wanted content like NMs which could only be claimed by a single person, or content which was more open that anyone could claim. The result was overwhelmingly in support of the later. Considering the abuse of NM claiming in FFXI by RMT, botters and obnoxious linkshells (*cough* Shikigami Weapon *cough cough*), this is only a good thing.
I'm pretty sure they are in FFXI. This is FFXIV.

No no no no no....it's not a good thing it's just not!. Bring back single claim NM, bring back open world content, make the stuff you craft have a value on the market board, then maybe just maybe you will have a chance to make this game live upto it's potential!.NMs are still in the game - they're just FATEs now and cannot be sole-claimed (not to mention they don't drop anything really, other than some of the real strong ones, like Cancer, dropping Allagan currency or minions).

As for RMT claiming NM the solution is very simple make it so the said item that drops from the NM is rare/ex and unsellable on the Market Board!. I'm taking a wild guess at this but when most of you start playing MMO expect a challenge right?. If you want to play arcade game go dig out your Super Nintendo there's a great game called "Mario Kart". For the rest of us, we like a challenge and want harder content with higher rewards.
My mother always told me that I can't have dessert until I finish what's on my plate first. You should finish T5 before asking for harder content and belittling others over "challenge".No no no no no....it's not a good thing it's just not!. Edit: Or EM primals lmao
In FFXI some NMs made sense, because they dropped equip with unique stats.
In this game there's only top tier iLV equip that drops in endgame instances.
which indeed is sad.
Things like HNMs are awful time sinks that result in wasted time while you could other things. Not to mention as Enkidoh mentioned Shikigami Weapon and other NMs like that. While I'd like 1 or 2 open world Dungeon zones, I'd prefer to never see open world NMs again. One fair solution might be for NMs in instance dungeons. Perhaps a monster that has a 25% pop rate in runs (it can't be obnoxiously low, but rare enough that it's still special). Either it pops down an alley people don't always go down, to give more reason to fully explore dungeons, or have it replace something in the normal trash set, but should still be avoidable to account for increased difficulty. The Deep Jungle Coeurl in Long Stop already kind of sets the stage for this since it guards the level 30 class rings.
Even in FFXI, a lot of the NM mechanics have changed because people HATED it. Ullikumi was fixed long ago to a forced spawn. Even Fafnir was changed to a force spawn. SE used a model that BG had suggested to them years prior. To get to Fafnir, you need to do Early Bird Catches the Wyrm BCNM and get a drop that pops Fafnir. Fafnir has his normal drops + a chance at dropping the Nidhogg spawn item. NMs were a big headache for many players. Often to be considered decent, you needed a drop from 1 NM, but couldn't afford it, and it was so heavily camped, and then when you DID get claim, you didn't get the drop.... If you do Leves, you have a 25% chance of encountering a Mark/Wanted Target for a bonus in xp, though there's no items to gain extra.
What's finishing T5 or EM Primal got to do with open world NM?. What's finishing T5 of EM Primals got to do with wanting more open world content?. What's finishing T5 or EM Primal got to with wanting a better crafting system with better rewards?.
I'll tell what NOTHING!!...so instead of looking at what content people have or haven't cleared and then start troll posts instead of adding something of interest we might actually like to read.
On that note your argument seems kinda pointless..now run along and do as your mother tells you!.
