Hardcore/elite knows how to motivate the team, or how to leave the team should they find it not worth the time. Elitists are normal people trying to look professional by imposing certain rules. If you're really serious into endgame raiding, as a hardcore you know when to stop, when to teach, when to not get too attached while still staying polite and having a good demeanor. Example: 3 strike party that's a real 3 strike party, you see someone failing at the same place over and over again, the hardcore elite would assess if the run is worth fighting for, if not, he will just leave politely. 3 strike party by elitists: After 3 fails, starts the blame game, will never get it off, and start badmouthing or harassing people and even blacklisting them. There's a real difference between elite/elitist.

I'm semi casual, like poster above, I've cleared all content, have 2 allagan weapons but I'm not exceptionally amazing or never make mistakes or anything. Although lately we've been one shotting twintania for 5 weeks already, but I admit we have our derps and stuff. I usually spend my time teaching new players and stick with the group unless I'm having a bad day, in which I just leave or vote abandon.

Most people around me use PF to build a party that won't disband after the first two wipes, and where all members have a language in common (I mean a real language, not "DF wasn't matching me fast enough so I ticked French too"). Anyone who joins gets a mini interview to make sure we can communicate. They expect joiners to stick around until everyone agrees to give up; anyone who doesn't is rude and selfish.

Some people use PF to filter for competent players who won't hold them back on stuff they think should be easy. They'll set high iLvl requirements, put intimidating words in the description and use any means at their disposal - even subjective ones - to exclude posers. They expect joiners to be honest about their abilities; anyone who isn't is a lying troll.

Some people use PF as a learning tool, because they don't want to make stupid mistakes in DF and embarrass themselves / get flamed. They expect joiners to be patient and ready to teach each other; anyone who isn't is an elitist.

Many people just don't follow any conventions at all. They don't expect anything from joiners; anyone who does is naive or self-righteous.

In the absence of official rules for what you can and can't do with PF, people and sub-communities make up their own. Where incompatible conventions meet, tensions are born. That's called human society.

Sorry, thought this was a game, not a job hunting site.

If you truly want to understand why people make these parties, it's simple. You or others are not entitled to my game time or anyone else's game time for that matter. If you don't understand that, you are just as bad as the elitists who treat others rudely without consideration.

I agree with this. If someone is making a party in party finder, and I don't agree with their methods, why should I complain about it? I can clearly just not join their group. They aren't forcing me to go. If I join one, and it goes badly, I can just leave. Doing anything else to try and control those people in party finder is a slippery slope. Do people really want to have SE police our thoughts and feelings?

The ends don't justify the means. I don't think anyone should believe they are entitled to someone else's help that doesn't want to give it. Just because one believes that another person is being unfair is no reason to lie. Two wrongs don't make a right.
