I feel this is a good direction to go though it probably takes a lot of work to design something like that.

I agree completely. To start off just being able to jump to get over those stubborn knee-high cliffs would be great but I'd like to see them take it even farther. (I fail to see how if I can jump 6ft into the air to use Arrow Helix how a one foot tall rock is going to halt my advance.) I'd like to see the jump feature be used to add some adventure to the game: maybe to get to a bird-like Notorious Monster you have to jump to and from rocks along a ledge to get to the top of the cliff; or if a monster uses a shockwave type AoE move being able to jump at the right time to dodge it.
Also as a side note: I think it would be appropriate for a game like this to have some kind of repercussion for jumping off ledges. Sure jumping off this 30ft ledge will allow you to escape the monster that's chasing you, but will you live through the fall if you're already low on HP? Just a thought!
