Hotbars/Gear sets resetting to previous setups

So I am having serious issues with my hotbar setups and my gear sets. Every time I log into the game, they reset to a previous iteration. This means that every time I log in I have to rearrange my hotbar icons to get to my normal setup, and I can't create new gear sets because they will be deleted the next time I log in. Why is nothing saving?

All character setup info is stored in a folder with a 'random' name, I quote the start of an article I posted elsewhere:

On Windows 7 systems there is a standard folder called My Games which is usually located within My Documents. Inside My Games will the a folder called FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn.

In here you'll find a couple of .CFG files (which I don't copy from one PC to the other since there are differences between them), as well as .DAT files if you've saved any Character Creations for later use: note these CAN be copied from one PC to another if you wish to create characters using a common set of 'templates'.

Also found within the ARR folder are one or more sub-directories with names such as: FFXIV_CHR004000174A7F90E2.

Each character you have will have one of those sub-directories where bar layouts, HUD settings, keybinds, macros etc are stored.

My first thoughts about your problems is that there's something 'odd' about these files.

I wonder if its because I have two hard drives, and this folder and the game are both on different drives?
