Grinding is not a challenge.


The real challenge there was not to die while grinding.
About challenge defined as difficult mechanics of an encounter, still have to find a game that, after memorizing patterns and all, encounters do not fall into grinding. When I see "we have T4 on farm stage" isn't that become grinding?
Again, I will go back to my first reply. People who finds the game not challenging are a minority. If devs will make a coil turn impossible to finish by besign, forum will be crowded by crying "omg too much challenging" issues.
Does not exists the "correct grade" of challenge. A Gladys Knight's quote on the matter: "you can't please everyone in concert, even though I still want to. Someone always wants you to sing a song that isn't necessarily on your set list."
we are all basicaly playing a easier version of the game "memory" and praying no one lags during a 1 hit kill mechanic. 8 players with 5 star internet can destroy content in less then a month if they use logic.


The OP requested a more challenging game, not a one impossible to play!
Jokes aside, it is part of the mechanics. BRD who plays mana song at right times, LB used at correct timing. More you need to know your class for an encounter, more the fun and satisfaction when you overcome that.
Sometime, encounters are made more difficult by some players playing the wrong way, and when you find they do that on purpose, it is more difficult to bear.
As a kind of mechanics I'd like to see, is some sort of dungeon you start with 8 ppl, and after each boss you have to choose 1 member to left out to be able go on (maybe they have to keep sitting on a button, or other things like that), until you reach last boss with a 4-ppl group. And players who were left out, cannot be left out again on next run or after some time.

Note; after Absolute Virtue they will never do something like this again, but they should make a boss that is unbeatable by design.
They just don't tell us that. Tell us the boss is in fact defeatable.
And proceed to release said boss that changes strategies and battle tactics at the drop of a hat, randomly dropping all aggro on the tank and start cleaving the dps for no reason before suddenly jumping wildly, switching weapons and abilities and generally being impossible to strategies around.
Once that boss has been released, SE should catalog and study the results.
basically you want a trophie. T5 weap should suffice for now right? Damn I'd be proud if I had one of those ...
But items gained through no-life time sinks are not trophies, more like no life sign.
