this was meant to be a thread for DPS stories form healers, not a place to argue what DPS means.
this made me legitimately LOL.
on topic:
when i'm a SCH, my general rule of thumbs for guaranteed safe DPS usually involve those sexy Adlo crits. these rules of thumb, though, are mainly for boss fights. in dungeons, theres a lot more opportunities
- there's usually enough time to safely put 2/3 dots (bio2/mia/bio) on with a standard adlo crit
- " " " " " " " 3/4 dots (bio2/mia/bio/aero) with and adlo crit if there is one other contributing mitigation factor (i.e. the tank used a cooldown, whm happened to throw a SS for whatever reason, you get the idea)
- " " " " " " " all dots (bio2/mia/bio/aero/shadow) with an adlo crit and 2/3 other contributing mitigation factors (i.e. tank uses a cooldown and i pop a virus/e4e)
- " " " " " " " all dots (bio2/mia/bio/aero/shadow) +a ruin2/energy-drain or so with 3+ contributing mitigation factors
these are just my general rules of thumb. i'm not the most experienced SCH, so i could probably be doing it better.
I throw out the occasional holy every now and then. other than that I never dps! I focus on what role I queued for
u don't really see any healing as a dps'er now do u! lol
As a sch I'm always going in an out of cleric stance depending on the content. If its something easy like CT, I'm 90% cleric stance, with Selene out. If its t4, I have Eos out, but I cleric stance during the phases with lots of mobs, so I can dot them up, bane, shadowflare, miasma II etc.
Its nice when you're in an FC that's on TS, so you can tell your other healer, hey I'm thinking about doing this.
But every job is not a DD. Every job can tank, every job can heal, but we still call tanks and healers tanks and healers. DPS is a statistic, not a role. I sometimes think people miss concepts on purpose.
More on topic: I run around in CS when fairies have at least Rouse on, no matter what content I'm in. I think it would easier for most scholars to list situations where they turn it off. Run with it on 24/7 and if you run into a problem where someone falls over, call them lazy, but then turn it off for that part next time.

Pretty much this.
It are no matter that DPS is "not a noun or a verb" like you claim, because it are not used how you think it should be used in video games. Yes, DPS are stand for "damage per second", but in video games (MMO in particular) it IS a noun or verb. It are not just an acronym.
Who didn't see this thread getting trolled?
