    Giant Yoshida NM suggestions

Remember that Giant Walking Tree in ffxi? It had a ton of hp, anyone can engage, and it would roam all over Vanadiel for days. I don't remember what it dropped, but I want a special event like that for some holidays, but a much bigger mob. Like a lalafell would be shorter than it's toe.

This Yoshida NM would walk around crushing players that dare engage it, saying things like "Rawr! How dare you players disturb my 3 hours of sleep! I will crush you like ants!" Then it would shoot laser beams from its eyes, and burn buildings. Then players resting at camps would be like "Yoshida is coming! Yoshida is coming! Run for your lives! AHHHH!" A few handful of adventurers will try to engage it, but find that their strongest attacks futile, nothing but a small scratch.

Now, hear me out, it doesn't even have to be Yoshida, it can be part of the Garlean Empire's technological marvels, Mecha-Yoshida!

Great idea or the greatest idea?

I'd be amazed if Yoshida-san didn't already have this on his own private server.

When I first read the title I was all O.O, a giant Yoshi P. NM, I pictured a Japanese man roaming around Tanalan stomping things. Perhaps I need some sleep... but it seemed awesome at first.

After reading the bulk of the message however I recalled fond memories of sitting back as a low level BST sicking crawlers and crabs on the Twinkling Treant from the FFXI holiday event way back. It was pretty fun actually.

That tree wasnt a NM. It was a world event to determine if servers would get outpost warping as a reward. (if I recall correctly)

Everyone who tried to engage it was set back to level 1 before they were allowed to engage.

And they released it RIGHT when NA players got the game, so noobs everywhere were getting slaughtered.

    From Gamerescape

NM for the event "Pernicious Presents" (Dec 26, 2003- Dec 31, 2003)
It is located in West Ronfaure, East Ronfaure, North Gustaberg, South Gustaberg, West Sarutabaruta, East Sarutabaruta under a Level 20 Cap, in Jugner Forest, Meriphataud Mountains, Pashhow Marshlands under a Level 30 cap, and in Beaucedine Glacier, Eastern Altepa Desert, and Yuhtunga Jungle under a Level 50 cap.

Does not give any Experience Points.

The reward for defeating all 12 Treants on each server was a new teleport service allowing teleports to/from the main cities to outposts in far regions.

    It had extremely high HP.

Uses an AoE that had knockback and afflicted Gravity, an AoE Sleep, a Drain attack with Additional Effect: Bind (which would last up to 5 minutes), and it would occasionally teleport to another part of the zone.

There are 2-3 Moogles in each zone which would put players who wants to fight the NM under a Level Cap. The Level Cap would wear off over time or could be removed by talking to them, dying, or zoning. Under the Level Cap, there would be 0 EXP loss to the Twinkling Treant, but if killed by other monsters, there is an EXP loss.
I also heard somwhere that the quest was put there to check if the servers could handle the load from a mass of players attacking one mob and handle loads of characters in a small area, prolly for future content
