    [Dev1036] Distribution of loot for 1.18

    So currently when items drop from faction leves, open-world nms, chests ect, they are distributed randomly to whoever is in the party. Now this may not be a huge issue to linkshells who run events (even though it is an extremely sloppy way of going about distribution) but what about pick up groups where there really wont be a semblance of organization or authority?

    Do the Devs have plans to change how the distribution of loot in handled in these areas? Why not bring back the /random or /roll features? What about Masterloot or Quartermaster? I don't want to be doing raid battles, have loot drop and only have the person who's loot pool it dropped into be able to see if it's worth a damn and then have to ask them to pass it to another member if need be.

    It's a good point.

    But wouldn't you be going in (most of the time) with your friends in your linkshell? Then they would say oop that piece goes to that person. Joe bob please give that to jimmy jones, and hopefully he does. This is what we did for the NM drops.

    Our linkshell like most others has a system for the distribution of loot. Call it DKP, Loot Council, Zero-Sum, Suicide Kings whatever - there is still a system. The main problem is that you cannot see what is in other peoples loot lists, so it makes it extremely inconvenient for people who need to see what dropped, analyze it, and decide to bid/roll on it; or for an officer to decide who it needs to go to. The system is sloppy beyond belief and needs to be more organized/accurate.

    Well since you need to have exactly 8 members for dungeons I suspect some groups are going to have to pick-up randoms. The current loot system turns that into a complete nightmare scenario

    well... no
    who says your LS is always up for doing anything? alot of times my FFXI LS did extra things i had absolutely no interest in... which is where pick up groups come in.
    thank god SE is going to implement easier ways for P.U.G.s to happen for those being left alone by their LS

    The Chat log let's you know who got what when it drops.

    But ya, if you miss it the first time you have no way of looking at their bag.

    no I get that, I really do lol and it's not so much about who got the loot it's about people needing to see the stats/level/favor ect of gear w/o having to pull up xivpro and look at it. (at least on our side)

    Also more control when the officer/raid leader needs to be the one distributing. If the current system stays the same I foresee many pick up groups getting items ninja'd.

    There's going to be drama from people taking things that should rightfully go to another place. Given the way the forums are going, there will be a lot of people complaining about wanting some sort of loot structure once the current system gets abused.

    The loot system currently implemented is awful. I think (hope?) it goes without saying that this needs to be modified.
