I am astounded at how many people are complaining and whining at the veteran rewards. Did you know, they don't have to even give you a reward. The game itself is a reward. You are complaining about free stuff. FREE stuff. I for one would like to say thanks. Not for the free stuff, (since most of it is stuff I personally don't care about) but that its on the table. That other people can in fact, enjoy it. Thanks for the minions. Thanks for taking time out of other projects to make just even one more player happy. Sorry we dont support minorities here that includes pet collectors mount collecters hardcore anything that at the very least 99% of the games playerbase wont use should be scrapped see thousands of other threads to see this is what most of the community agrees on.

In all seriousness...Like someone said before...you can't base all the complaints on the Forums "most of the community" Because when I'm in game, everyone's always like "Yay mounts" and "Yay free stuff" Then I come to the forums and it's a bunch of nay sayers and complainers.

And that's when it dawned, - there are three types of people on the forums:

The first type accounts for all the complainers, nay sayers, and trolls who just either like to start problems or complain because they want everything NOW or don't like the game, so they come here to tell everyone about it for some reason.The second type are people who love the game, and are here to check for any new Dev posts that might give them some information that isn't in the news portion of the main site or the Dev blog. Because they enjoy the game so much, they want every bit of information they can get. Unfortunately some of these people get tangled up in the hate posts and probably get forum suspensions if they bite back at the trolls. Which I recommend not doing...

The third type are people who are at work and can't play right now and just want to see what's going on or what kind of nonsense is happening in the forum this time.

But I try my hardest to stay away from the nonsense and just stick to the dev posts. People are just so incredibly rude here - especially to the Dev and community teams of Square Enix. They're human beings, the poor guys (and girls) have to read every message here for moderation...and it must be so very exhausting. So show some respect...to SE and to other players. We're supposed to all be friendly here. Why shouldn't we be? We enjoy games, we enjoy the Final Fantasy franchise, and/or we enjoy MMOs. So for what reason does everyone need to be disrespectful to one another?

If you have some "negative" feedback for the game, then bring it to the support center. Don't bring it here.

This is a horrible indicator that the devs are quickly becoming out of touch with their own game and community. I don't know who thought that 50 free Aether ports was a good reward for 1 year vets, but show him the door, nao!

I liked that post. Because you have to be kidding me if you think it's useless with our Security Token free teleport. The free teleport works on ONE specified location. It's basically reintroducing the second home point we got used to in 1.0. These free tickets will give you free 50 teleports ANYWHERE you want to go. What's wrong with that? That's not useless! I'll be using them when I need to go somewhere fast but it's across the continent so it's more expensive than the other teleports that are closer.

most of the game is instanced. most people don't have to randomly go places.

50 teleports is less than 20k for most people which you can earn in less than a week of dailies.

the last set of rewards gave 1 minion and 1 mount, this set is 1 minion and expendable items that are not the equivalent of a 5th of a tribal mount.

it is quantifiably worse than the previous set of rewards and there isn't even a sentimental value you can attach to these items cause they are perishable.

So you are saying that the fact that SE puts fluff items in to this game isn't very important. They could put them in, or not, you wouldn't mind so much. You "personally don't care about"... /nod /nod

You had to log off wearing it for it to show up. It's a vanity item, so it's not like you'd wear it cause you needed it to dps or something. :P

I am now concerned that you have missed the point entirely. I am not upset that vanity items are being gifted or that the devs are spending their time on pets, mounts and other things. I am merely statong that I am not one of those who find that I must, shall we say, catch'em all. What I am merely pointing out is the outrageous entitled behaviour some of these players have who think just because they subscribe, that they should get whatever they want. Free is free. Say thank you for it and appreciate it.

As for my hat, its not a vanity item. It increases SB. Practical.. and cool looking.

About entitled behavior, sure, entitlement is ridiculous. I don't think I ever said anything about that though... Are you saying that's what I'm saying?
*My point*, was that the community likes the fluff items and so did you apparently. (Is that a unfair statement? Yes you said you don't want all of them, who does really?)

We each have a few of those fluff items that catch our eye when offered. That is their intended purpose, to catch our eye. It's not ungrateful to say like "Hey, this item could be so much better *this* way". They want us to want those items. They are reasons we attempt some of the feats this game sets up for us to do.

But if you were referring to a rude tone in which it was said. Maybe, then, sure, I'd agree, that's impolite and unnecessary. People should be grateful to people that make luxury items. We don't *need* things like fancy cars. It's not wrong to talk about better type of fancy car we'd like to see built. Pretty sure a car company wants us to buy the next fancy car, so likely they will listen. But yes, we should be nice about it, otherwise it's pointless, the message is often lost.

Regarding vanity items though being free: They are a incentive. How many people bought the collectors edition for the mount? I mean, sure it's not like achievement vanity items are necessarily a reason someone buys the game. It is a *incentive* to play it. It's a perk. Sure, they don't have to make it. I don't give special thank you's just for vanity items. It's all part of the big thank you and pat on the back I give for the game as a whole. I don't pro-rate thank you's!

The message was not directed towards anyone in particular, if you felt that it meant something to you than take it as it is. A statement. Regardless of whether or not vanity items are your bag. I was directing my comment to players who are upset because they didn't like their free stuff, and that they would rather have this other thing instead. It's free. Complaining only discourages more free stuff.

You may call it an incentive, or a perk but I bought it because I wanted to show my support for the game. I would pay for a years subscription because i want to show support. I paid for over a year for FFXI, never asking anything in return except for the game for which i initially paid for. Why should I be unhappy if they give me anything that is essentially, free.

There's a difference between "the thought that counts" gift and to "tipping a waiter a penny" which is insulting.

I don't really care for any of these rewards but I can see why people are upset. When the reward is going to take up inventory space, and is essentially giving away a negligible amount of gil, then it isn't really thoughtful at all. 20k might seem like a decent sum of gil, but consider the player subscribed over 360 days. Assuming the player didn't just pay a full yearly subscription up front, and have actually played at least 180 days, then gil shouldn't be much of an issue at that point.

The tickets would have been more useful for early players to get around the world for the main story quest, but that's just my opinion on it.

Worst veteran reward yet at the 1 year mark and we're entitled for called it an incredibly poor choice.
