Why do we not have the ability to "freeze" our subscriptions?

I hope this doesn't come off as confusing, but why do we not have an option to freeze our subscription time when we aren't or can't play XIV? I myself would love to have an account option somewhere in the Mog Station that allows me to temporarily freeze my sub, and do other things, while my time paid stays the same and doesn't dwindle away after I paid for it while I'm busy with something else.

It seems highly illogical to me to pay for a sub, need to take care of real-life affairs, and yet my play-time isn't being used and I'm practically losing money because I can't put it on hold until I can play again. If we had the ability to put it on hold, then re-activate it when we had time to play, then this would be a very beneficial system for subscribers. All you'd need to do really is log in, tell the system to freeze it, then log back in and re-activate at your leisure. This could even make SE more profits in the long-run if customers had some freedom with their subscriptions. Instead of, "Oh, gotta go to work or take a trip for a few days unexpectedly, good thing I paid for another month of XIV but can't suspend it for a moment, guess I just paid for a month's time and wasted some money."

Any thoughts on something like this?

Subscriptions tend to work by units. Monthly magazines, daily paper, month of netflix etc. Usually you pay for a set amount of time. I understand what you want, but it would be very difficult to try to get a company to do it that way. Your not losing money at all with this set up. You pay to access the game anytime you want for the time period you pay for. If its 1 hour or 1000 hours, doesn't matter, kind of like an all you can eat buffet.

You should stick to monthly billing only. If you have time you wont be playing, make sure you cancel. Resub when you want to play again. Thats really all their is to do with games that are pay to play.

It's like internet connection, netflix subscription or gym membership: you're paying for the possibility to use the service during certain time frame, not for only the time you spend on the internet / watching tv / working out.

This indeed how can SE make cash if ppl just freeze there account when ever they want?

The option to freeze/unfreeze it once every 30 day period, maybe, but the ability to freeze it at will is really bad for business.

you can still sub only for one month in advance, like that you limit the potential losses to one month max. as you account gets frozen after it expires

Good point, new Veteran Reward anyone? Subscribe for a long enough period of time and you get "freeze" allowances that will allow you to put your subscription on hold for awhile until you can return to play it. lol
