Do you mind if I use this amazing post as my new signature? The only reason parsing isn't supported officially is because people can't stand be shown how bad they are with actual evidence, and all those adorable excuses mean nothing.
People can't stand to think that perhaps they actually aren't very good at something, and require some practice and effort to improve.
But hey, this is the era of the participation trophies.
I'm afraid I just cherish my account too much to call bad players out.The only reason parsing isn't supported officially is because people can't stand be shown how bad they are with actual evidence, and all those adorable excuses mean nothing.

But oh well, as long as my own performance is satisfactory....

You pretty much just gave the reason for parser, take it like a man and improve yourself, it's not fun being terrible. No offense.A lesson on why parsers should be a bannable offence, now I know the real reason for parsers is as an aid to improve dps, but when it comes to calling players out over dps using them, they should be bannable. Just in the Thornmarch to get my win (I don't get to play much) we wipe once and a healer parsing the fight just says "Delsus are you trolling, your dps was xxk"
Um, yeah if I didn't badly need the win before 2.2 I would have left there and then, I don't normally take that kind of douchebaggery. (is that even a word?)
I figure there are three types of players using parsers on a regular basis.
1) The type of player that wants to min/max and play at a competitive level. These players are probably playing with others of that mindset. If not, then they are idiots for expecting randoms to play the same way. In this case, there is a relationship built and reporting parse numbers is in an effort to improve the group as a whole. No matter how you deliver it, odds are good the group understands that it is for improvement of the whole.
2) The type of player that wants to perform their role to the best of their ability, because they want to excel, not because of any group gains. This player won't give a rats a** what another player's numbers look like because it doesn't really affect their performance. If they do care, it is to compare and verify that they are in fact performing at the level they are striving for.
3) The A-hole. I would say these fall in to the group of people that think they are part of group 1, but since they are a-holes, can't stay with a group that will play with them and so they take out their loneliness on the masses.
Maybe I'm wrong, but regardless, why do people feel the need to police other's performance?
The elitism in this thread is amusing. FFXIV is not a hardcore game, nor does it have hardcore content or "pro" players. This game is WoW-levels of casual, and that's okay because it at least makes up for the embarrassment that was 1.0 and FF13.
Edited for clarity one way or the other. Not changing my stance. Lawyering the system to get back at someone is unconscionable. Creating a thread to gloat about how you lawyered the system to get back at someone is just disgusting.
So what you're saying is, someone that's doing really bad shouldn't be because the game is super-casual-no-pro-easy-mode-fun-time am I right?
I think what he is implying (and I agree with) is that if you are using this game as a way to prove you are "LEET GAMER PRO" than you are using a crappy metric.
On the other hand, given how relatively simple the mechanics of the fights are in this game, it's disturbing how many people are just plain awful.
